I thought you might have crossed it out because you thought it wasn't available in 180gb.

FWIW, my HP Elitebook 840 G1 came with a 180GB Intel Pro 1500 series SSD.

It all depends what I'm trying to do. You're pretty much guaranteed to have light sources that are different color temperatures unless you're shooting in a home "studio" with 100% controlled & artificial lighting.

Would it make sense to sit on them in anticipation of their value going up? By my reading he made $44 in a 25 hour period if he were to convert them to Bitcoin and then to cash.

    Cold

I think one of the several super volcanoes that are due to erupt or an asteroid might be a more pressing concern. Or perhaps the coming ice age or the 20 trillion dollar federal debt. However, I guess we can worry about the solar output of the sun 1 billion year from now. Actually, lets start...

And how exactly would you suggest a fine liberal like yourself suggest we counteract the slow increase in the light output from the sun?

    Your first computer?

I had an obsolete Heathkit computer with a Z80 that ran some flavor of CPM that was given to me when I was in 5th grade. I had all sorts of fun with it.

You need better wiper fluid. It's not cold enough to freeze the decent stuff where you live.

So I bought a stick on ebay of the same Micron memory (exact same part number as what came in the 840 G1) and the system wouldn't even POST with the eBay stick in it. The system flashed out a code for a bad memory module. :cursin: The RAM is now on its way back to the eBay seller and I've...

Alternative folding support idea - mining for coins to fund F@H

Yeah, I found that out in subsequent searching. This article was interesting. The graph on the difficulty of Litecoins is going near asymptotic, so it might be too late to make money with Litecoin.

What's the math say is your approximate time to pay back the $1750 the machine costs (after accounting for electricity costs)? Also, why didn't you get ASIC's?

Which OS Upgrade for old computer?

In my experience it won't work if you pick USB-HDD in the boot menu. The USB flash drive should show up under the list of HDs when you pick HD from the boot menu (F12). That thing is from 2007. It should boot from a USB flash drive. Heck, I have a Dell laptop from 2003-2004 that will boot...

Well, I looked at the manual for the BIOS prior to posting that.
  27. S

Which OS Upgrade for old computer?

What was the problem? You hit F12 at the BIOS screen, pick Hard Disk, and then pick your listed USB flash drive from under that section and viola the USB flash drive boots.

Haswell Laptops 14" and smaller with at least FHD screens

Yeah, that's what MS calls it, but it still more or less a service pack (with different requirements and a different name).
  30. S

Haswell Laptops 14" and smaller with at least FHD screens

FWIW, that's not how service packs have worked in the past. My HP came with 7 Pro, so I don't have any experience with what you're trying to do.

Which OS Upgrade for old computer?

Not necessarily, downgrade rights are fairly convoluted. You would have to start with a Win 8 Pro OEM license and go from there. You can still buy Windows 7, so that's probably a much better place to start.

Well, this is the stick of DDR3L that's in the HP Elitebook 840 G1 I got. Specifically the E1 revision.

Windows 8 on early Pentium 4?

As it in won't work, or you're technically violating the EULA? Sounds just like Apple.

Windows 8 on early Pentium 4?

I thought downgrade privileges were only on the "Pro" version.

Windows 8 on early Pentium 4?

Doesn't the same key work for both? I know it would require a clean reinstall, but it's not like there's absolutely no workaround.

    Crucial 8GB DDR3 1600 SODIMM (v. spot the difference)

So Crucial says this 8GB DDR3 1600 SODIMM is compatible with the HP Elitebook 840 G1 I have on order. Of course it turns out that part number CT5044300 is pretty much only sold by Crucial directly. How is it different from this 8GB DDR3 1600 SODIMM that I can buy at a variety of retailers...

Haswell Laptops 14" and smaller with at least FHD screens

FWIW, I've heard that Elitebooks are solid. The features on the 840 G1 lined up more closely with what I wanted than the Lenovo T440s. I wouldn't buy a low end HP mass market consumer laptop with expectations of it being robust. But the same goes for most other brands. Frankly, I'm not sure...

Wait, the stock Android browser isn't Chrome? I thought it was. I've been using the stock Android browser. I'm using the standard Android 4.4 keyboard. It doesn't work the same in Firefox as it does in any other application.

That's my understanding. Edit, found this: "- Dual 128 GB SSDs, RAID 0. This is achieved by having an adapter card to allow 2 miniPCI-Express SSD cards to connect to the standard 2.5" SATA connection. This means that if a drive fails, the miniPCE-Express card could be replaced, or the entire...
