What's the HTPC currently running OS wise? Why not just share the media via DLNA (Media Sharing in Windows 7 or miniDLNA for Linux), and use a TV in the bedroom that can use/view local DLNA content?

If it's putting out 1080i vs 720p, then there are a few instances where 720p will look better, namely sporting events and other high/fast action scenes.

It's a shame due to the price of it... but do wonder what the performance would be at higher queue depths? Is that where this product shines?

I've heard similar with Samsung, it depends on the product division and how dead it is. If the product is dead, Samsung are generally pleasent to deal with, but if you have a minor fault, they don't seem to give a sh*t.

Oh, and the i7 uses triple channel RAM configuration with a maximum of 6 DIMM Slots, utilising 4GB DIMMS. 6 slots x 4GB = 24GB. Intel only validates 8GB DIMMS using Reg DIMMS, which AFAIK only Xeons can utilise.

Why would it be a chipset limitation considering the memory controller is on the CPU? As a guess, it would be more due to limits on the i7 IMC and what Intel is validating as the max number of DIMM slots vs DIMM size for the i7 and not the limitation on the chipset (unless there is an issue...
