    10TB helium drive

A few stores claim to have the new He10 10TB for around $800. It not really worth that for my purposes.

My question was about the local cables, transformers, etc. in the neighborhoods. They don't all have much of a "grid" in the less populated areas. I suppose it will cost billions to upgrade when the time comes, but 20 years from now would not be my problem. A lot of people come home from work...

    problem Amazon Fraud

The other hard drive arrived, but I found it was a big spool of wire. :cursin: Does anyone have experience dealing with their shipping frauds? I entered it into the Amazon system and printed the shipping label for the return, but don't have much confidence they will believe me. I can just see...

What happens in some future where everyone on a resident ial block has a couple of electric cars plugged in all night? Will there be sufficient infrastructure at that level to support all that charging, A/C etc.?

    10TB helium drive

I will add the 3z10 and 8 for now. Maybe I'll reconsider in 2017. I expect a few weeks for the 831x availability. I already have a spare REd 8GB so that will house the RAID 6.

    10TB helium drive

The 8TB He8 is about $480 and the 10TB NM0016 is about $600, both in SATA. I suppose there may be some lower prices from less reliable sources.

    10TB helium drive

It sure is a strange looking drive. The metal base has a striking silvery finish that is dissimilar from the full-sized shiny aluminum cover plate.

It sounds challenging. I'm not in such shape for serious, steep climbing, especially with a high load. I can move around on uneven and loose ground plenty quickly when there is motivation like a rapidly changing beam of light or pair of rare birds of which only 200 are left alive. My knees...

    10TB helium drive

It must have been the add to cart thing messed up. It's not a DD quantity but still I'm around $5K in the last 6 weeks on storage and still have to buy another NAS with more than 5 bays.

    10TB helium drive

Why, is that bad? I spent a lot on all of the 10TB drives (meant to buy only one). HGST doesn't have them out yet. The seven other Seagate drives in the computer have all been fine.

That's about 100x faster DL than I have. Snappy would mostly be about latency though?

I can live with those speeds in RAID 6 for a backup. I'm going to continue with individual drives for the primary data, but use larger and better ones.

You can calibrate lenses indoors. I do it more often than not. 32.9 x 43.8 mm is medium format now? It's only 27% longer than 24x36 on the diagonal. Meh.

I see out of stock at the egg, or did you buy the 16GB version? I'm not seeing $200 worth of difference from 8GB in the NAS, especially for my uses.

NX-D is also non-destructive. It creates the NKSC_PARAM folder with the little .nksc files. You should calibrate the 200-500 before shooting, not wait until editing potentially OOF images. ;)

Have you found any workloads where the recent gains in M.2 card improvements are of any use? I'm not seeing much change lately and would rather have higher capacity and less heat for example.

That would be nice but the type is not clickable. I can connect The Synology NAS directly to the computer so my problem seems to be something else about connecting the two computers. Thanks. Currently I have three computers, a printer, and the wireless/internet connected to a normal 8-port switch. I added the NAS to that switch (2 linked ports) also. That works OK so far. Then I added X520-DA2s to the main and secondary computers and connected them directly together. I'm...
