I must be an idiot...
Can someone tell me how to change the IP address on the Green interface? I can't find that setting on the web interface anywhere. It's not in any of the manuals, or in their forums. Everyone just says that they did it, not mentioning how...so it must be obvious.
Please...
I'll second this. For those of us who lack any intenal self-esteem, and draw our self worth from those around us, being in a realtionship (even a dysfunctional one) is as important as oxygen.
I'm whipped.
It's 11:30PM, and I'm about to drive an hour to see my GF...when I have a meeting tomorrow morning down here at 8AM tomorrow.
She has no plans for tomorrow, and it's her turn to make the drive, but she's "feeling tired".
Grr.
Good to hear of your good experience, you deserved it after your ordeal with Sony.
Antec. I've had nothing but great interactions with them. Their primary phone number takes you directly to a live human who speaks proper english and is aware of all of their products. They are able to process...
I basically keep 2 copies of all my really important stuff at any time. These are stored on servers, web servers, or workstations. I check up on them/update them every week or so, migrating them to new locations as the redundancy opportunities grow.
Currently my copies are being held at to...
Yeah, but I was concerned about the company growing beyond the limits of SBS...so I'm running Win2k3 Enterprise, SQL2k Dev, Exchange2k3 Enterprise, etc. I'll be migrating IIS and SQL off soon enough. Those should stay on the same machine for now, as the SQL server is driving the web site...
Yup, running strong for 2 days now...running only 2 users for exchange and a SQL-based web site. Peak commit chage stands at around 700MB. CPU usage averages 4%. Happy me, the other servers are on their way.
The things that I value for the econo-desktop box in order of importance:
1. Onboard NIC, Gig-E is nice, but I won't be sweatking it for a while.
2. Onboard Sound, Sure it's crappy...but it's better than the $5 speakers every business person stole from the guy down the hall when he was fired...
CPU Usage for me on the aforementioned clip goes to 100%. CPU is an Athlon XP 3200+.
I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that this one is the only one of the three that has DRM-crap in it.
Well, for the record, it works. I do plan on offloading many of these tasks to other servers within the next few months, but the functionality is required (for only a few users) in the meantime. It seems to be holding up quite well.
...and IIS, and RRAS, and AD, and...ugh.
Has anyone had compatability issues running all of these on the same machine? SBS2k3 has some limitations I'd like to avoid, but IIRC I had some issues with SQL2k and Exchange 2k running on the same box.
comments?
You't think someone would have written a general drive caching app that could be used with any drive. I don't think it would be that big a deal, and I'd like the ability to specify which files stay permanently in how much RAM.
I know the OS does this to a certain extent, but I'm more anal...
Best of luck, all the things you've mentioned (and your motivations) match me as well. But I'm not ready to kick it (yet). I hope you come back in 6 months to tell us how much better you are....I might be ready to do the same about then.
ScoobyDoo2 in 1080p chokes my workstation....holy cow.
All the others work great, no choppyness at all. And even better image running MPC instead of WiMP 9.
So if you aren't using onboard video, what are you using? This is what I've been using for servers, but no DVI.
ASUS nVIDIA GeForce2 MX400 Video Card, 64MB SDR, 128-bit, 4X AGP, Model "V7100 PRO PURE" -RETAIL
I'd really rather stick with MSSQL. If there's going to be a cost associated with the syncronisation, I'll just have a custom .NET web server app written to do the job. I was just under the impression that MSSQL 2000 enterprise was capable of doing this automatically.
Cash is nice, coins do suck. Anytime I recvieve coins, I leave them right there. At the register, as part of a tip, whatever. The number of times brick and mortar establishments give me better treatment with cash is amazing. Just pull out a wad of $100s and that clerk can help you right now...
Part of the political process is that everyone works off their own database, and that information is then sent to the other users. Although having one run as the "master" and having the others sync their changes with it might be better.
Here's how the data will flow:
Location "A" will be the...
I'm still happy with my cash-only lifestyle....I haven't used an ATM in 3 years. I have a business account, and it holds a balance (a few grand) that I cover my business AMEX from, and cash checks out of. I'm quite the regular there, just walk up to the counter with a check and they hand me...
I started the Gay/Straight one.
It's concepts of righ/left gave me some issues. eg:
"Good" is left, "Bad" is right
ok, now "straight" is left and "gay" is right
or, now stright and good are the same (left) and gay and bat are on the right
....WTF? Is this supposed to be teaching bias or...
This is pretty much what I'm looking at. Becuase of the nature of the data flow, I'm not particularly worried about data corruption. And if the systems are slightly off, that won't kill us.
What is currently running:
The 3 sites belong to 3 different companies. Each have their own system...
I go to work for several reasons (reverse order)
3. I have no substitute...I don't work it doesn't get done..people get pissed.
2. There are no "sick days", there aren't even any "vacation days" I don't work, I can't eat eventually.
1. I usually can't tell whether it's sick or just a hangover...
I need a database to be kept identical on three identical servers regardless of where a change is made. I need the updates to be as instintaneous as possible.
There won't be that much volume in changes, primarily adds. And the total bandwidth of adds, changes, and removes won't exceed 2kb/s; so...
Never done this before, but it souded pretty straightforward.
I'm about to build 3 SQL Servers and set them up accross the US (Monterey, Miami, and Detroit). I need an entire database to replicate continuously between them. They are all connected to at least a 3Mbps SDSL line and will be linked...
Straight from firefox's "options" tab, with char. returns added for legibility.

The easier way? Get a reasonably moder f*in floppy disk. Sheesh.
Floppys, like all cheap magnetic media, lose their ability to retain data over time. Floppys are the worst with zip disks slightly behind and tapes a healthy but still unnerving third.
Choosing to use an old floppy is a bad idea...
I have a couple of Citrix servers, but they require MS TS licencing on top of thier licencing....making the cost really ridiculous. And I much prefer the MS client.
The fact that they will actually be using the terminal server as a terminal server makes it more cost effective. This app is very compute intensive, both server and client side. Each job file can be 300MB in size. One of the reasons I chose Opteron is so I can get medival with the memory if the...
It would be nuts, if this were instead of them getting new desktops but they're all getting new laptops as well.
And terminal services licencing has shot down many a viable business model.
But for this application, my client is fairly certain it's the proper route to take.
Re: Software costs...
I need to build a terminal server (Server 2003) to handle 10 full-time users toing some complex stuff. What do you think?
Motherboard Tyan Thunder K8W $500
CPUs 2x AMD Opteron 242 (2Ghz, 64-bit, 1MB L2 $1,400
RAM 4GB PC3200 (DDR400)...
