That will do just fine. The only thing you will need besides the drive is a place to stick a 2.5" drive. I usually use poster tape and the side of the case.

Yup, it is quite heavy, and it does feel some of it in really tight corners. I was actually looking for a heavier car, so it would be safer towing the boat (2500 lbs). Hitting the limiter was quite obvious, there really was some extra room in sixth, you felt the car simply stop accelerating.

The A3 is way more stable at 155mph (computer limited) than the Golf was at 130 (drag limited). Very impressive.

So long as they are getting regular updates, I don't think it matters too much. Of course, viruses do try to disable AV programs, so having the latest is probably a good idea.

I'm sure you knew this, but Vista sucks at sharing to clients. You might even be better off with something like this. Even more reliable if you skip the wireless part and wire it into your network.

You are only vulnerable to that worm if you have enabled SSH access from the red (outside) interface and your password is easy to guess. It is not enabled by default, and can be disabled easily. It is not a big deal.

Ah, right you are. This is actually a 8500-4, which uses individual SATA-PATA bridge chips, but is otherwise a 7500. 64-bit PCI is pretty old, though. Perhaps Greg wants it?

Not in the way that matters. It is all about latency now for most applications, and nothing with moving parts is even in the race. RAID level doesn't play a factor. Even 5400RPM drives can do 100MB/s.

In the past I've ended up getting higher-res screens and running them at 1/4 resolution (1920x1200 into 960x600) that ends up pretty bright and very clear. Even bad pixels become less relevant ;)

From the images I've been able to look at, it looks fairly normal. Just be sure you can change the setting to favor a single antenna, or you will need 3 directionals ;)

The antenna I suggested earlier would attach to the WMP54G, not the WRT150N. Getting the antenna out from behind the computer would be the biggest help, IMHO.

Current Max is 300MB/s per channel. Depending on what RAID mode you want, you can get good RAID performance off the onboard for RAIDs 0, 1 and 10. I wouldn't bother with any of the stuff between that and the Areca/3Ware level. Once you go there, you can saturate an 8x PCI-E connection (2GB/s)...

That is my experience as well, three drives seems to be the cut-off for the slotted-styrofoam treatment.

All it does is hold SATA drives (it can do more with SAS, but ignore that). Since all it does is hold the drives, the maximum speed is that of the drives, and whatever you plug them into.
