These are just regular APCs. So probably the cheapest there are. Probably not a best/recommended practice, but I do it anyway.

It is the only way I can think of to know where a camera is pointing when it is flying 50' overhead. Even if the live view is 2fps, at least I know about where it is pointing.

There are plenty of ways to kill a drive using these enclosures, but nearly all of them involve user error. Pulling the drive too fast, formatting the wrong drive, etc. I wouldn't worry about that so much, so long as you are careful.

There was some variation in the grass, and the clouds were throwing shadows on the hills, but I don't see what you are looking at? The number of images stitched here is high enough that blotchy-ness should be avoided.

In an attempt to shake some of this, I went out looking for distinctly unnatural stuff to shoot. If the air is impacting things, perhaps my subjects should be closer? Perhaps not keeping the entire shot in focus? Something slightly less natural? Here is what I came up with...nope, still boring...

For my workbench I use one of these, with the power cable tapped directly from the PSU in my workstation.

Now the madness of getting a 5DII makes sense. Combining it with a WFT-E4A gives me complete remote control, including live view and focus, over WiFi.

There is a buffer and a battery on the Intel SSDs, but the cheaper ones have nothing, or 64k at best.

I'm getting better at flying my RC helicopter (Belt-CP v2). It is capable of some hardcore 3d flying, but I have this crazy idea of mounting a dSLR to it and doing aerial photography. That would be an expensive crash.

That would depend on your metric for both. I suspect that you are willing to pay a premium for SSDs, and that speed for your large drives isn't as important. If they could get down to merely double in price, and not completely suck at small random write performance, I doubt they would have a...

Yup. Every time I evaluated a netbook, I thought "more memory and CPU is all I need". I've come to the conclusion that what I need isn't a netbook.
