None of the drives mentioned are anywhere near risking this. They seem to have these issues resolved with the new controllers. The Vertex actually outperforms the Intel under certain workloads, so it does depend.

I've done that once personally, and had it happen twice to people in the company. Once they presented the non-functional phone, the other time they asked me to take their word for it. Just be sure to inform your account manager to mark that phone in case someone tries to reactivate it.

I would bet that it is a lighter camera, considering it not only forgoes the auto focus system, but the flash and LCD as well...

What I found interesting there was the talk of OCZ's 3.5" Colossus SSD in capacities up to 1TB at prices of $2.15/GB ($2200). We are getting there.

I used to search for items that were misspelled (primarily magic cards). I stopped buying cars online when everyone started with hidden "reserve" numbers instead of just starting the bidding at what you will accept. That is a bogus practice IMHO.

It is the receiver from this system. Really nice, but I now need HDMI. I'm planning on keeping the speakers and using them with an Onkyo TX-SR607. No idea what it is worth, really. I've just been using the SPDIF input and that is it. Remote (no visible wear) is included.

No, I don't own any of those. The regular OCZ Vertex (not even the Turbo) is fine for typical desktop performance. I buy the 30GB version for $140. Now that I know that the other drives are basically the same thing, I'll be keeping an eye on their pricing as well... Patriot Torqx 64GB - $223...

I had never heard of X-WRT. I'll have to check it out.

Each of the 4 SATA breakout cables is numbered 0-3, and the connectors on the controller are numbered 1-6. You have to do the simple math yourself to find out which drive, but it isn't a big deal.

This sexy thing filled with SSDs and one of these is what I'm drooling over at the moment (6TB of high-speed goodness). Merc is right, software is the way to go if money is an issue. It also gives you more flexibility going forward.

Every time I try an ATI card in something complicated I'm unhappy. Both seem to manage a single card/single monitor config just fine. The racing sims didn't go forward, but GTX295s do provide better image quality settings in some games even at 1920x1080.

Sucks. At least it requires action on the part of someone inside. This makes most of my builds safe, as there are no users on the inside (Smoothwall for that).

I have a passive 4350 here with a native HDMI port that is destined for an HTPC somewhere. I've built several systems with the 4770, it is a great card and does everything well. 90% of my systems are GTX 285s or 295s.

Not exceptionally difficult, provided the PSU has the PCI-E power connector that that card needs. The 4770 is really a cool running card. It also depends on what motherboard you are going to be using, and what CPU cooler will fit.

The specs now show 5400RPM, so they seem to be aware of the issue. I'd drop them an e-mail at least. I wouldn't accept having to pay for restocking, but you might get stuck with shipping.

It was running over 3GHz when it was my toy machine, but now it is in the most mission-critical machine in the house. That new s775 motherboard uses DDR3, which I hadn't noticed. Sucks. And the onboard RAID controller doesn't recognize my RAID array from the other motherboard (RAID-0 of 4 2TB...

The Vertex is still my SSD of choice, I haven't gotten any Turbos yet...

While I was at it I got an E8400 and an HD4350...should be snappier than the Q6600 that was in it before for desktop use (2 cores instead of 4, but 3GHz instead of 2.4).
