    Gigabyte X58A-UD9 sneak peek

Some good info, but Kyle really annoys me. If he were to actually write down a script, and do the voice over separately, he would do much better videos.

    photoshop witchcraft

When the smoke detector tripped or the big red button was pressed, the alarm sounded and gave you some time before doors started to close automatically. When the doors were closed, the gas (not halon, something less bad for the environment but similar in performance) sprayed out the dispensers...

    3TB hard drive from Seagate

Good observation Stereo. But XP workstations can still see shares that are >2TB, so it shouldn't impact too many people.

Sweet. That means I'll be able to backup the data store onto single drives again. That makes life much easier.

Of course? 'Family values' is an assumption. Assumptions weaken communication. Weak communication destroys all relationships.

Do you choose stone as a unit of measure because the numbers are smaller? Or because fewer of us will know what it actually means? :p

What do you think of this laptop?

The specs look great, and ASUS has a generally decent reputation for build quality, but it falls down with regard to service. Before you buy, just try to get a hold of their technical support. If you are happy with that experience, go for it.

Old hard drive Seagate ST351A/X error, blinking LED

Welcome to StorageForum. If the BIOS won't detect the drive, you really are in trouble. Have you tried connecting it to another computer? As a secondary hard drive? Using an external enclosure perhaps? Worst-case, you can try swapping the circuit board from an identical drive, but I've only had...

I can do all the pushups, situps, and chinups, but fuck running. That is for when you are being chased ;)
  27. ddrueding

When did you give up training?

Right about now, actually. In the past, when I noticed I was out of shape (over 200lbs, I'm 6'2"), I would do something about it. It isn't looking good at the moment.

    Dell 2001FP

You can replace your 2001FP for <$200. Comparing the cost to repair a cheaper LCD with the new cost of a more expensive LCD seems a logic trap. Considering this mid-step, chancing a repair seems less wise.

    Hardware RAID Enclosures

I'm afraid I don't have much experience with that stuff. Even if a single drive is enough, I'd recommend RAID-1 or -10 for a DAW, as it is considerably less jittery while streaming writes. When I was at Dolby Labs all the systems had a single HDD or RAID-1. Even if all you can source there is a...

PC Gaming = World of Suck

The new Command and Conquer is truly awful. I've never seen such bad graphics @ 1920x1080. Gameplay sucks as well. Its as if they thought that coding for base creation was too hard, so the don't let you anymore. Battlefield: Bad Company is good so far, played for about 4 hours.
