I really miss my CBR600F4i. That was a great machine. If I were to get another bike, it would probably be something a bit more comfortable. Not a Gold Wing or anything, but probably a BMW F800ST or similar.

I cannot tolerate humidity. Here it is actually a little high today (60%). Normally it is closer to 50%. I hate that sticky feeling you get everywhere.

    Viore HD 1080p 60HZ lc40vf80 for 389 at costco?

Indeed. The one I ordered also stated 1080p clear as day. It wasn't until I viewed the EDID information directly that I found out what it actually wanted.

    Viore HD 1080p 60HZ lc40vf80 for 389 at costco?

The company's website does not list this model, but all the screens I saw smaller than 42" were 1366x768 native resolution.

    Viore HD 1080p 60HZ lc40vf80 for 389 at costco?

Yup. I bought a panel that claimed 1080p but was in fact 1680x1050 or thereabouts. It is now running at that lower native resolution as a monitor, but I do not trust it do properly display 1080p video. I forget the make/model, but it is somewhere here in the last couple months.

    MP3 player rant

I would have agreed until yesterday when I actually used one. Would it be easier to use if it were larger? Yup. Is it usable the size it is? Quite. Is it worth making the whole damn thing bigger just to make the interface easier? I don't think so. I'll take a look.

Thanks, Bozo. I'm familiar with tower cranes in general, but if you look closely at this one it appears to have been built at least partially from parts that were in the scrapyard to begin with ;)

    Case for a Gigabyte G1.Assassin

The PC-P80 is big enough that I installed a PCIe card without cracking the side, just opened up the front door and undid the thumbscrew holding the bracket in. Of course, in order to reach the thumbscrew from the front of the case I was sunk halfway up my bicep. But it was a neat thing to try.

Linksys E4200 134.99 at local Costco

Heat. For all my failures, #1 is the power brick getting too hot and #2 is the unit itself getting too hot. For 54GLs in critical positions, I replace the power brick with a regulated power supply and crack the shell, installing a heatsink and sometimes even a fan. I'm hoping the Routerstation...

How to render the optical drive inoperable?

Pulling the optical and putting in the spare battery/blanking plate would be choice #1 for me. Of course, if I needed an optical and didn't have one, I'd just use a USB. That is why I superglue all the USB ports on "secure" systems.

Just did a clean install from a pre-SP1 OEM 7-x64 disk. Upon startup, it made it through 98 of the 107 updates successfully, hanging on KB2560656. I told it to cancel, and that hung. Then I told the machine to reboot. The last thing the update window said before the reboot started was the...

Just an observation: If you remove the part with the vendor's name on it from a computer component, it usually makes it better. I'm specifically thinking of Gigabyte motherboards and video cards where they put a Gigabyte-branded shroud or sticker over part of a heatsink.

    Case for a Gigabyte G1.Assassin

PC-P80 us a beast. Those 3x140mm fans in the front do an amazing job very quietly. It would also hold a fantastic radiator, considering the whole front can be opened up. The biggest downside is the thin aluminum that it's made of. Becasue of that the 18x/19x Antec line is still my choice for...

Certainly useful for Google. They needed the patents. They really had two options: 1. Kill the patent system quickly enough to avoid the issue. 2. Get a crap load of patents that everyone is licensing already to keep them off your back.

Just a guess, but his belief is probably that the system is broken, not that he should single-handedly fix the debt problem.
