While I probably should have just let this thread die, I resurrect it for the following (off topic) curiousities: I do! And what you said about taking advantage of the NRC is so true. My first pair of speakers were some Mirage SM-1's that I got second hand. Granted just beginner speakers...

Blew up television, need suggestions for new one

I picked up a Toshiba Flat screen about a year and a half ago, and have recommended it to several others - both they and I have been extremely pleased. Indeed, when people come over and the TV is on, they always seem to comment on the great picture quality. Essentially, I bought it as a stop...

uhh... strange memory problem... more = slower?

Incidently, you can see from this how module density figures tie in with all of this: 32Mx64 (also denoted as 32M64)....which of course mathematically gives you a 256MB capacity However, from the context of looking at the DRAM chips themselves, you can see that we would have know way of knowing...

uhh... strange memory problem... more = slower?

Given what you said above (16 DRAM chips on each of the modules), then yes, exactly.....which is what should be expected. But even further proof is contained in the chip model number itself: 46V16M8....16M8 is just another notation conveying the same thing as 16Mx8. [In otherwords, its a...

uhh... strange memory problem... more = slower?

Sorry Howell, I'm not quite clear what your seeking. Do you mean as in you have a generic module and you wish to ID the manufacturer? If so, you could try a program, like Blake suggested, that will read the info programed into the SPD/EEPROM. CPU-Z has such capability. Caveat - not all...

uhh... strange memory problem... more = slower?

It would be a chipset limitation. However: I agree, and the more I think about it, the more I think it shouldn't make one iota of a difference. I think I'm off base. Just speculating (I'm doing a lot of it these days it seems) cause I have seen other people report similar problems when there...

    Memory Upgrade : 256 MB Dimms on a P2L97

I think what I'm saying is: I've never owned a board with the chipset in question (at least to the best of my knowledge, which means I could have, but just didn't know cause I really didn't care less about computers back then --- just wanted the damn things to work), so I'm just speculating and...

I want to see features damn it! Not no stinking one percent, two percent upmanship arms race. I'm actually a little dissapointed with the "new" Nforce2 revisions. Somehow I was under the impression that they were also releasing a new variant of the MPC that would have brought in native SATA...

    Memory Upgrade : 256 MB Dimms on a P2L97

Given, in this case, that they shared the same pin count, functionally a DRAM chip is a DRAM chip is a DRAM chip....the only thing seperating the PC133 chips from the PC66 is that they are capable of running at the higher frequency.....but in zx's case, the PC133 are running at PC66 frequency...

uhh... strange memory problem... more = slower?

Those are the module density figures you have quoted, as opposed to the chip densities that I quoted above. Unfortunately, Module densities don't convey an accurate picture because of two things: 1) manufacturers don't always follow the same labeling convention and 2) it doesn't tell us how...

When you checked your new stick with memtest, and you thought it was taking a long time (hour for 1 pass), did you have both sticks in together?
