looking for suggestions for a business PC

I dislike the Dell 420's as a basic machine. First, and formost they come with a x8 PCI-e capability using a x16 slot with no AGP port and no sound. The problem is that their x16 connector has a tab inserted to allow x8 cards to be edge supported. To make any modern video card work on that...

I guess I'm a fool because I wasn't joking. While it is peculiar and thereby humerous, that a SF thread is associated with the other links; Isn't it against our rules to link to adult sites, and by association links to links of adult sites? At least that was my rational for my original question.

Perhaps the question is phrased wrong: Rather than why should everyone be paying for a Homosexual's preferences, we should be asking why is everyone paying for the Hetrosexuals preferences? If equality in benefits amoung the two groups is a good thing and the reason that they are seperate is...

    Playing with VPN...

With no routing between them, gateways have to be on the same network. A default gateway is merely where a packet goes when something doesn't know where to send a packet. Think of each device as watching for traffic that is addressed to it. It simply examines everything to see if it should...

    Playing with VPN...

Yes, you are misunderstanding. Unless there is routing going on (You need a routing protocol turned on) the gateways have to be on the same subnet/network. Otherwise the packets have nowhere to go when they are received at the destination but they are on different networks so they get dropped.

I want three things that don't currently occur on SFF cases. I want a balanced retractible handle: One that does not interfere with its flatness either on top; sides; or front; sticking out the rear is ok. One of the great benefits of a SFF is it's portability. Lets use that! A docking...

Yes, it happens all the time especially with rounded cables (They put all the data lines in close proxismity of each other). That is why the newer 80 line udma cables with a ground between every data line was created. Those ground lines are there to absorb the crosstalk. Note, that normally...

    PCI-X and PCI-E: Why?

No smaller cards get to plug into larger slots (x1 card into a x16 slot is ok)but you can't make a x16 card plug into a x8 slot. The actual slots are different sized so you can't actually fit an x16 card (82 pins) into an x8 slot (49 pins). There is only one mechanical key in the slots and...

    PCI-X and PCI-E: Why?

Dell is now incorporating PCI-E into their new low-end servers. That being said -- I'm not impressed. They are incorporating x8 and x1 PCI-E slots and the problem is that they are useless right now. They are using integrated video with no AGP slots; and the minimum standard for a PCI-E video...

    PCI-X and PCI-E: Why?

PCI-X is simply an extension to the PCI bus. It adds MHz (33->66->100->133MHz) and/or extending the number of data lines (32->64). As an engineering task, going faster and adding more parallel lines to a bus becomes increasingly difficult to do. The crosstalk, impeadance, end-point...

    Trouble Shooting Advice

When both the CPU and the MB go bad, one has to suspect the PS as a likely culprit. Further, If both CPU and MB are bad, you also need to suspect that the RAM has gone bad too as it is highly susceptible to voltage irregularities.
