    Wikileaks

Supposedly they have some kind of secret stash of devastating information they'll pull out if the US messes with their site in any serious fashion. Assange isn't the only Wikileaks admin. He's primarily the public face of the group.

PC Gaming = World of Suck

Fallout 3 wound up being a huge disappointment. Not enough tile sets or different bad guys to fight and it just wasn't very much like the other Fallout games. Anyway, as I said before, modern gaming is pretty barren to me. It's a damned shame now that we have such awesome hardware, but I can...

    That was a joke, mubs.

    RAID with mixed disk technology

No, not automatically. TrueImage can't do scripted restores, either. It's not a difficult process to restore, but it is a bit obnoxious because the Rescue/Boot Time environment has a different interface from the Windows program.

PC Gaming = World of Suck

It's not my fault that modern computer gaming is so terrible. Bad games. Horrible control schemes. Unacceptable copy protection. Assumptions of console behavior on vastly more capable hardware. I'm not seeing the good in anything that's been released in the last five years or so. Dragon Age...

    Wikileaks

I don't think it's an ego trip, Bozo. I think he's legitimately striving to create some greater transparency in the way that these enormous organizations that control our lives actually work.

    RAID with mixed disk technology

I've been able to get close with TrueImage. You can establish backups on a two hour threshold if you want. New versions of TrueImage have support for nonstop backup, but I haven't tried it out. Carbonite also does backup in real time.

    Wikileaks

I really don't think that the things Assange is doing are going to be good for his health. It might not happen immediately, but I don't think these stunts are compatible with a peaceful, long life. I really do think Wikileaks is doing something valuable. In the past it has hosted not just...

Anyone have a suggestion on a new washing machine?

Is it too late to suggest that getting married is supposed to end man's involvement with laundry? Because my friends on Fark would be ashamed if someone did not contribute that comment.

    problem Multiple Monitors

I'm not going to run out of space or bandwidth, but it does add to the amount of scrolling required to read the thread. Just to be a little on topic, here, it's a PITA to enable monitor cloning on Catalyst. I have to screw around for five minutes every time I need to do it. But you really...

    BF Deals?

My choices for Grocery shopping are really limited otherwise. I'd have to either make a 20 mile round trip every time I want something or go to a little market that's a half-step up from a convenience store.

    Quiet server

My current plan is to use software for a RAID1 for OS stuff and a controller-based RAID for the actual database. I was thinking about a Perc5 as a starting point since I have a spare one. I'd like to make an allowance for storage expansion. Personally I think 2TB of storage is plenty for...

    BF Deals?

My only choice for reasonably close grocery shopping is a WalMart. I know from experience that there's no point to shopping for groceries during December at any point before 10PM because WalMart is ALWAYS crowded. I managed to get 10 Gigabyte G31M motherboards for $350, which I thought was a...

    Something Random

Over the weekend I helped my father build some shelving for his home theater setup, a task made difficult by the fact that his TV is mounted in a recessed cabinet over a gas fireplace. He went to Home Depot, bought three large, flat pieces of birch and, with a table saw and a router, turned the...

    Quiet server

blakerwry, I configured a Dell server with all Dell parts, since that's the only way they're going to fully guarantee and support it. Their pricing for high capacity disk drives is particularly insane and appears to be the main cause of pricing disparity. Dell also isn't going to support the...

... and getting a Poweredge T110 to a even kinda-similar space in terms of options pushes the price up to $3000 before tax and shipping. My Newegg shopping cart is $2300 including shipping and my spare parts.

    Quiet server

I thought about just doing a Dell Twhatever. The extremely low-end Celeron "servers" are indeed fairly quiet but my proof of concept machine is, too, and it has a much more flexible configuration than Dell's.

Moving XP x64 to new RAID array on different SATA controller

This is true and I have done it many times in the long-distant past (NT4 needed that a lot), but I'm not exactly sure that doing so will address your issue, which is why I suggested the repair install in the first place. I know it will work and it's relatively expedient.

Here's what I'm dealing with: One of my coworkers has developed an application that relies on MSSQL + IIS (and it's an asp .net thing, so it's going to stay on IIS) that targets a specific market, which is health care related. The offices I've visited in attempting to sell this setup don't...

Moving XP x64 to new RAID array on different SATA controller

The fastest thing to do is probably to pull the JMicron array and do a repair install targeting the RAID1 of SSDs. I suspect that just fixmbr isn't going to cut it, though it's completely harmless to try.

    question RAID 1

There's a procedure to enable Intel RAID after the fact. It's complicated and involves screwing around in the registry. If you have Windows Server, if you create a SoftRAID 1 on another system, you can install to that.

Thank you for that, time. I'm looking for a queen size mattress. I don't like sleeping on a king. It's just too much bed for one person. Microsoft security vs. Avast?

I certainly could, but I don't want to move over all the crap that I host that isn't my personal stuff. I doubt anyone else would actually care as long as their four page wordpress things stayed online, but I don't really want to give people access to my stuff that's in my home.

Probably injected code, though I don't know specifically where the vulnerability was. As a stopgap I've changed the permissions on the .php files there to read-only.
