    Dell U2410 24" H-IPS monitor - thoughts?

I've plugged in a Logitech Revue, my Evo, a WD TV Live, a Boxee, a generic HDMI switch and a Pioneer VSX-920 so far. It works when I plug it in to a Radeon 5750's HDMI port. That's all I can say.

    Companies that have burnt...

There's very little that's exciting in the world of desktops and notebooks other than the possibility of a new form factor. "Ultrabook" is the new buzzword. Mobile stuff is exciting because nothing is actually settled right now. Did anyone suggest it might be possible that the same little girl...

    Dell U2410 24" H-IPS monitor - thoughts?

That is my suspicion. I guess my monitor could support HDMI 1.2 and all the stuff in my office could be 1.3 or 1.4? I don't know offhand if down-level compatibility is part of the spec or not.

    Companies that have burnt...

Given how complex home routers have to be and how thin the margins are for products in that space, it's not any wonder that we associate those products with crap. Of course, almost no one wants to pay for "decent", which limits our choice to a $50 hunk of crap that will die four months after you...

    iPhone syndrome

It's kind of a tough call, but those horrible sweatshops and terrible working conditions will eventually create a real middle class. The worst of the worst will move elsewhere seeking even more disadvantaged people to exploit and the cycle will begin again.

Since I can give directions to my apartment by the number of strip clubs and adult bookstores one has to pass to get there, I have a feeling that my whole community would be avoided by such a thing.

    Dell U2410 24" H-IPS monitor - thoughts?

I just found out that while my U2711 works fine with HDMI when connected to a PC, it works with absolutely nothing else over HDMI. I simply don't get a display. That's a little aggravating for a $1000 monitor.

Did anyone happen to hear This American Life over the weekend? Aldiko is nicer than some of the readers I've tried. One of the features I really would like to see is the ability to pick the background and text colors myself. I usually like a muted grey, blue or green background with black letters, or the inverse of that for night-time reading and...

I actually had the same problem and in the same quantity. I managed to buy used CPUs for mine - $150 and $180 for an i7 920 and an i7 940, so now I have two nice, complete systems sitting around waiting for someone to buy them, but the older they get, the less they're worth. I'm sure that...

AMD Radeon reliability goes down the drain.

I also think high end video cards have a lower standard of reliability. I haven't personally experienced any issues lately with high end ATI hardware but then I don't really see all that many systems with $200+ cards, either. Of course, I wouldn't be me if I didn't mention that I've probably...

    Multicore weirdness

The first thing I did was try to reinstall the HAL. I've done that before. Standard, 32 bit. It's not a big deal. It's just not a behavior I've ever observed before. I figured Windows would auto-detect the proper number of CPUs and it doesn't.
