Splash: You were right. Even though it doesn't have the 128 or 256 mb of vram I was after, the P650 sure is one heck of a video card. It's so clear, it's scary, and, it's fast enough to run most anything I can throw at it. Been watching DVD's and it's a definite step up from the G550, speed...

    Adware - The New Scourge

I just did a fast install of 2000, thanks to a legal program, Dissomaster, requiring an old version disk that we didn't have. We had the newer version, but that wouldn't work to stop the loop. Anyway, the point is, I ended up with Real Player and some other crappy programs I never...

    Registry tweaks with XP?

Hi I've had good luck with a couple tweaks in XP that I used in 2000. With sufficent ram, DisablePagingExecutive, value 1, and LargeSystemCache value 1, along with clear pagefileAtShutdown at 1, seem to noticeably improve preformance on my XP machine. The same settings, with 384 mb of ram on...

Well, so far things are going pretty well. The Epson is about 4-5 times faster then the Canon scanner. It doesn't give me much time to type stuff. I just got done burning two CDS, scanning papers as fast as I can, Trying to watch the net, and do email. The highest the processors went was...

Figuring out the graphic card universe...need for a database

Well, I just looked at two empty PCI-x slots when installing my last cheetah. I guess I could move my G550 to Travel Whore's machine, and put the PCI-X card in place. I'm sold on the Matrox multi screen gaming, and abilities. I'm must wondering if 700 bucks is a bit much for a card, that in...

Well, glad to hear that's your recommendation, Splash. I decided on this one: http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/consumer/consDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=35836301 Costco carried it for about 170 bucks, and with tax, and shipping, it's 200 dollars. Anandtech did a test on the 3200, and...

    Nvidia launches latest video card...

Gary suggested that video cards may become a thing of the past. Get around this power, and bandwidth problem by using 64 bit data paths, straight to and from the cpu. Or, better yet, integrate the GPU with the cpu. Hook your gpu to your processor like ram is currently linked using the G5...

JoJo: It sure does make it easier. My Cannon scanner is going out. The connection on the back of the scanner is really flimsy. Think Jumpster(our cat) jumping off it, or hitting the wires has done it in. NOT a happy camper about that part. I've been looking at scanners this morning, and the...
