The funny part is I've lost my taste for champagne, and alcohol more or less in general. I find the champagnes, and wines in general, too acidic, and lacking richness and complexity. Every once in awhile I find something reasonably priced, but that's very rare. I've always liked Dom...

What's the speed of the computer you are running on? McAfee made the P2 400mhz unusable. I'm running Penicillin, from TrendMicro on my main machine, and, even though it's expensive, and minorly annoying, it really works. NOD32 seems fine. GS

I should elaborate. This time of year, @ the Shadowbrook, a guy named Chase came in. He had a party of 6, and, thanks to my wine expertise, he spent 6700 dollars. He rounded it off to something like an even 8 grand. While the tip is still probably the best ever, at the Brook, the jealousy...

Well, it's Thanksgiving, and , things are going well but, no company. More later. Tonight, I was in the mood to be Santa, and, I took a ride down to the local store. I've pretty much gone from 2400 a month, to maybe 5000 a month, starting tomorrow, for the rest of the year. I was in the mood...

Mercutio: The 4200 rpm ATA-6 drives aren't all that slow, or that shabby, compared to what else is out there. This generation of drives really seems to have doubled, and then some, sustained data transfer. The old drives in the CF 37 and Lombard are maybe 10 mb a sec, vs. average 22-23...

Catch 22. CF-37 is fast enough to do DVD's, but only if the files are copied to the hard drive. It only supports USB1, so, can't play from the DVD player, only copy from it. Ripping to the hard drive might take forever, don't know. With head phones, it's rather cool, for such an old laptop...

Mercutio has a point about using a bigger drive, provided the computer can play DVD's. CF-37 I think, is too slow, 366 mhz with 192 mg of ram, but, I could be wrong. That's on the line for DVD players. Course with a 6 gig drive, you can't play from the drive, and, it doesn't have a DVD...
