    Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution premier

I am really looking forward to having a good kitchen so I can cook myself. My biggest complaint about healthy food isn't the cost but the time. Whether eating out or cooking for yourself, there are very few fast and healthy options. Subway Sandwiches come to mind, but that takes thee times...

    Laptop with Warranty and RS-232

What they are actually trying to do is get us to upgrade our equipment. Of course, the new equipment is identical to the old (except it has USB), and a $45k+ price tag.

    Laptop with Warranty and RS-232

I know there are USB-> Serial adapters, and they all suck. This company won't support their product if I use one, either. I really want it to be new with warranty, and of course cheap is good. I've already checked Dell and Lenovo, and even Dell Refurbs don't have serial any more. The vendor...

    Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution premier

For the last few weeks I haven't done hardcore fast food. Instead I've taken the time to go do a sit-down of some kind. This may be pizza, steak, a burger, whatever. There is still salt, sugar, lard, etc; but I'm more confident that it is closer to "food" than the fast food or frozen isle garbage.

    128GB Pen Drives

When I was in China, I bought an 8GB USB drive in a market for about $8, at the time that was friggin' huge. I was skeptical, so I pulled out my laptop and plugged it in. Sure enough it reported 8GB, and when I went to copy an 8GB file to it, it happily copied away and showed the file as being...

I certainly understand that possibility, but he isn't just a friend. I know of at least a dozen deals that he has done that have gone well. Of course, every deal is different, and in today's market nothing is certain.

Of course. I got three GFEs even before choosing a friend, just to make sure I was getting a good deal. All the quotes were roughly the same and all the sell lines were roughly the same. I don't believe that this lender is particularly unique in having problems; all the people I know who are in...

That part is complicated. I have no reservations about the individual that I am working with; I know him and his family personally, we do a lot of business, I know he is competent, etc. However, he works for BofA, and they (as an entity) I have very little faith in. The individual has faith that...

Done a bunch of the advice listed above. The plan was for 10% down. We have the other 10%, but need that for house repairs (new roof, insulation, etc). Currently pushing for a 30-day extension of escrow and re-filing for an FHA loan with 3.5% down. So long as the house passes the more stringent...

Thanks for the explanation for us slow folks...

Toaster? David, what was that thing, and what drives?

Lunar said it. Any drive will do. I wouldn't reccomend it for long-term use, as there is n active cooling.

One of these combined with one of these. Any 2.5" or 3.5" SATA drive will work.

No benefit whatsoever. The ideal casing would be a "thin in the middle" heatsink-style aluminum enclosure with flanges on the sides for the mounting points, where all the chips made contact with the aluminum for heat dissipation.

Areca ARC-1280ML connected to 12 Samsung HD154UI 1.5TB drives. These drives are configured in two arrays; a RAID-10 of 4 and a RAID-6 of 8. Before I rebooted the system, I verified that both arrays were showing "healthy". Upon reboot, the BIOS declared only 1 array. In windows using the web...

    Water cooled, i7 860 for 1099.???

You can do water cooling for much less, but I wouldn't want to trust my system to cheap WC components. They say "sealed, no maintenance" so I wonder if they are just heatpipes and some exaggerated marketing...technically that is phase-change cooling ;)

If AHCI is disabled, no drivers are required. No F6, nothing. If it can't see the drive, reset the BIOS to defaults (and make sure AHCI is off again), and double-check the drive cables.

    Gaming across 3 monitors?

Just talked to the simulator client, and 42" screens would be too big for the install. 37" might work, but I might retreat all the way to 32". For the day trader I might go to projectors so it can be larger and not have any seams at all.

I actually have two different customers who would be interested in such a thing. One is a day trader who is looking for a wall of monitor for all his graphs. The other would be for a dedicated driving simulator.

Looks like the Eyefinity 6 cards are finally shipping. The solution I'm looking at specing will use 5 42" 1080P LCDs side by side in portrait mode. That should be pretty awesome (3ft (93cm) high and 8.6ft (263cm wide) - 5400x1920). Now to look for a reasonably priced LCD TV with a narrow bezel.
