I am shopping around for a mirrorless for timelapse. Would like it to have the Intervalometer built-in, have good dynamic range, support enough resolution for ~5k video (to motion crop to 4k), and be reasonably weather resistant. Just started looking, have another week before I need to buy.

The motherboard manufacturers clearly consider the heat thing a real issue; my new X299-Deluxe has a large heatsink just for the M.2 slot. I've attached heatsinks to them in other installs. And motherboards are available with at least 4 slots on them, with PCIe cards offering more slots if needed.

Google will now let you cache areas of the map to your device in advance, so it works without service. Still not as good as a dedicated device with updates maps when offline, but much better when online (traffic data, etc).
