    Crap selection of laptops

How good or bad are Intel Pentium 2127U processors in laptops? I'm helping someone buy a new laptop and there are plenty of models (different brands) with Pentium processors. After the core series came out, I have lost touch with the Pentiums and am at a loss as to their merits / demerits. Buyer...

    Which 2TB Drive?

Decades ago, Sears was a case-study (in the good way) when I went to business school for my MBA. How times have changed. How come Lampert is still around? I'd think the shareholders (or banks who've lent them money as they continue to hemorrhage) would have booted him off a long time ago...

    Which 2TB Drive?

That's why there's a "lifecycle" for businesses. Where are Sears, IBM and other great companies of yesteryear? The itch to fix something that ain't broke is so strong, it overrides everything else. Happy customers become critics. Newegg became a colossus because of how it operated in the early...

    Some work on my A3

An off-beat comment, especially since I know so little about modern cars: VAG cars are known to throw out a lot of funky codes when the battery starts dying, most typically the ECL. Your car has already done 60k miles +. Before you do anything else, suggest you invest $10 one of those led...

Just for reference / comparison, can someone tell me the approximate lumens output of the following: 1) standard 2 x AA cell incandescent bulb flashlight you can buy in Walmart for a few bucks 2) cheap, no name Chinese flashlights that run on 3 x AAA alkalines and have 3 or more LEDs 3) single...

In a Boy's Toys article in a local magazine, they wrote about the Surefire UB3T Invictus. At $550 a pop, no thanks, I'll pass. Can anybody point me towards a decent LED flashlight that can go from zoom to variable flood and be bright enough at max flood? Typically in flood mode I'd want it to...

Thanks for the heads up. I just checked - zero contacts in my GMail account. I remember saying No, don't share contacts when the phone was first set up (and before signing in to GMail thru the phone the first time). Am glad that at least this much integrity is maintained.

This is the thread for the discussion of interesting apps.

It should be an option if I want to let G-Maps read my contacts list. For the record, even though I have a GMail account, it is dormant. My primary email a/c is Yahoo. Besides, of the 700+ contacts in my phone, only about 20 are in Yahoo Email's contacts list. So no way am I going to let G-Maps...

Updated Google Maps is available for Android. Why the heck does it need access to your contacts list? Why does WebMD need access to your call list? Sheesh, this totally negates the advantages of these apps. The invasion and rape of privacy is reaching epic proportions.

Your tyre could fail anytime without warning. I'd replace it pronto, if I were you. The rim's condition is more difficult to assess. You may want to wait and see how it holds up. Don't exceed posted speed limits in the meantime. And what Mark said.

You're barking up the wrong tree. They ain't competing with GM or Ford or Chrysler. They're competing with MBZ, BMW and Audi in the upper segment, and with Volvo on safety. Battery life, nothing else matters

Smartphones typically gorge on batteries because all functions are on by default always: GPS, Wi-Fi, Mobile Data (3G/4G), Bluetooth. A bigger hog is the largse diaply they come with.
