Increased SSD Performance with relaxed retention...

Hi Guys, Just was quickly browsing the following paper called "Optimizing NAND Flash-Based SSDs via Retention Relaxation". The basic premise is that in order to store data for a long period with NAND flash, say hold it's contents for 10yrs (being the current industry expectation or there...

    2TB drives under the duopoly

I tend to agree with B^3. Out of all the SCSI drives I've had, they tended to fail less than IDE/SATA drives. (I can think of only 3 failures in 100's of drives - with all running 24/7 for 3 yrs). However, I will stress this, all those drives were hot-swap 80pin in proper chassis with adequate...

Revodrives? What would work with my setup?

The sad thing is, except for a few here, most of us have systems that "are so yesterday". Case in point, my current primary box is C2Q-Q9400, 4GB RAM RegECC DDR2-800, 250GB 7200rpm, X38 chipset, nVidia Quadro FX580, which itself is "so yesterday" even compared to your box. However is plenty...

I've never understood the appeal of Harley's in general? Yes they make some very nice bikes, however if I wanted a big bike I would consider something like a V-MAX, a Boulevard or a Vulcan 1700. Learning how to use FreeBSD

I thought Desktop installation was covered in the FreeBSD Handbook? For sharing files with Windows, you'll need to use SAMBA (exactly the same as Linux). If you need a hand with Solaris 10 or 11, let me know and I can be of assistance. (Are you installing in a VM or on real hardware)...

I was going to recommend the CBR over the CRF, simply due to ride comfort. The other option is the Kawasaki ZZR250, due it's slightly larger size and better fit for a larger/taller person, but you should still get 70+mpg on it. I was going to suggest the Ninga 600L, but it's fuel economy isn't...

    Android phones: Tips, tricks?

Couldn't be said that most companies now have issues with releasing quality software? Yes, true with the wonderful side effects of lowered total write cycles (in some cases around 1000 writes), decreased reliability (due to die shrink), and slower performance per bit (3 bit TLC is roughly 3x slower than SLC and 2x slower than MLC - with higher latency). Truly a wonder to behold! ;)
