Yep, that's about what it takes. I found the reason why it took so much time to complete the first unit (project 2683) : the CPU was operating at 2GHz instead of 2.8GHz. I didn't verified the frequency in the BIOS when I finished assembling the system. I thought the Gigabyte motherboard with...

Bluetooth mouse. Sometimes, you have to work directly on the server. Not all of the servers are configured remotely. I'm sure there are some people wanting to sync data using a bluetooth device to their server too. It must not be very common, but so are bluetooth devices.

Now I know why the unit takes so much time to complete. It's worth 25403 points alone (project 2681, 2682 and 2683). I'm not even sure I'll be able to complete it within the prefered delay (4 days).

Yes, I am. But the first I've got is quite heavy. Under Centos 5.4, my Core i7 860 (unoverclocked) is taking one hour per frame. That will be 100 hours to complete the unit. I don't know what's the deadline, but if it's three days, I'm toasted. I've checked the system monitoring application...

Zotac GF9300-G-E MINI-ITX, how many simultaneous displays?

The entire system has to fit within a very small enclosure. There's no space for a discrete graphic card, even a low profile one.

Cheap is not that important. Small, tiny even, is more. I'll check my price lists for Matrox external cards (I have several available). I forgot about them. Thanks for bringing the idea.

But the Vertex 2 Pro will be even better according to the preview at Anandtech. BTW (I've only browsed the last two hundred posts of this thread), anyone knows which controller uses the new Kingston V+ SSD? The advertised numbers are interesting. It looks a lot like the current OCZ Vertex...

    Fancy i7 cooling

I use a Xigmatek HDT-S1283 with the ACK-I5361 adapter for the LGA1156 (Core i7 860). While it's not silent, the amount of noise is fairly low and it's low frequency so less anoying. Cooling efficiency is excellent and the weight of the heatsink+fan is reasonable. The most silent cooler I've...

I'm pretty sure I can control two different displays with the integrated graphics. What the Dude wrote is my impression too, so I don't expect to be able to send three different video signals. If you can find me a Radeon HD 5X00 that fits inside an enclosure no bigger than the Minibox M350...

    Cheap Color Laser Printer

I'll try tweaking. The box is opened and the printer is now used (5 pages old), so I have to keep it. There must be a way to "fix" the colors to add some punch. Our old Lexmark C510 is much better in that regard and I thought the Brother would equal it. On the good side, it is fast. A full...
