I don't go shopping from the beginning of November until well after Valentines day. Those I know well enough to get gifts for, get gifts when I feel like it. They know if I see something they'd like/need that I'll just buy it and give it to them then, rather than waiting on some...

Sounds good to me. I've noticed things I don't like about people, and tried to be different myself. The biggest thing is that people resist change, so I try to think that change in and of itself is a good thing, and only other drawbacks will make me reconsider. The other (very related) thing is...

[NEWS] - AMD planning to move to LGA

My only question is why? What does this offer? Doesn't it add to the cost of manufacturing the CPU (socket as opposed to pins?) Without reducing the cost of the motherboard the same amont? And what of the added complexity? That thing looks to involve at least 3 steps and several moving parts...

    First bug of history.

Working at CompUSA in SF the tech department called me in one day. They'd taken a computer that wouldn't post from a customer downstairs and cracked it open. When they did, a pile of dead cockroaches spilled out onto the workbench. As the manager on duty I had to call the customer and inform him...

The simplest configuration would be 6 wires spliced at the source, running between 20 and 150 feet each, to independantly amplified speakers. I'm thinking of introducing some sort of switching system to it, but I'm not sure about that yet.

    Home audio and distribution.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I mean a low-level audio signal. Considering that this will be directly spliced to a number of wires, should I use some kind of amplification at the source? I'd rather not, as that would complicate things.

I'm working out a more simplified version to accomode my more modest budget. But I still need to send an audio signal as much as 150 feet. Will an analouge signal be significantly impacted? What would be the best wiring? Do I need to send the signal in a digital form? Are there standalone...
