SSDs - State of the Product?

Just ordered one of these. Cheaper than 4x 160GB G2 and a RAID card. After some musical-drives, this will be my boot drive ;)

    24GB+ of RAM?

That is what a dedicated server room with cinder block walls is for. It isn't cramped if you get a pre-built; everything already has it's place.

SSDs - State of the Product?

Use an Ubuntu LiveCD, it has partition resizing tools in it for free. There may be some googling involved in figuring it out, but it took me about 15 minutes the first time around, and I don't know Linux very well.

SSDs - State of the Product?

Not at all. And I have been doing "bad" things to them, as well. Copying on/off lots of large files, that would have caused any negative performance to happen already.

    Cheap 11"x17" copier

Ah, thanks. I knew Kyocera Mita, and did search there, but didn't find anything. It seems that no one allows you to sort/search by this feature.

    Cheap 11"x17" copier

I didn't know Toshiba made copiers, and I've never heard of Copystar. I searched all the manufacturers I knew and went talked to the local service techs. Thanks for the tips.

    Cheap 11"x17" copier

From what I can see on the Brother site, they AIOs you were talking about can print 11x17, but can only scan 8.5x17. That is dumb, and rules them out.

    Cheap 11"x17" copier

Thanks, uda. And very tempting, but inkjet is likely too far from what they will be expecting. I will pass on the information and see if they'll take it. For the purpose of this conversation, let's call an 11x17 copier a device where you put an 11x17 original in, press one button, and get an...

What is wrong with the concept of a 3D movie? I agree that a lot is wrong with a lot of 3D movies, but that is because no one seems to have figured out how to do it right. It sounds like you are generalizing a bit more? Isn't 3D movies a logical extension of making a recorded experience more...

I'm looking for the best in power protection; an on-line UPS. It should also support SNMP, and a climate (temp/humidity) sensor would be great as well. But they will only be powering about 20W, and only need to do so for about an hour. Thoughts?

Not really. We have ways to get internet to you just about anywhere. Right now I'm up in Tahoe at the condo waiting on the Charter Communications guy to install the cable modem. I'm looking for the cheapest copier that will do 11"x17". The load won't be large, and it will be in a crappy environment so it won't last long. The Canon imageRUNNER 3025 is a bit under $3k. Are there any desktop models capable of 11"x17"?

You are expecting the video player to alter the video in some way? There are quite a few post-processing plugins available to the back-end engine, but they require a crapload of CPU to do in real-time. I have a bunch running to help upsample DVD to 1080p, and it keeps an i7 pretty busy ;)

USB Flash Drive Bootable XP Image?

For the record, it would have been easier to just download Ubuntu onto a thumbdrive. You could boot completely off the thumbdrive, and have complete access to the hard drive via a nifty GUI. You'd even be able to copy files off to the network or thumbdrive.

I use AnyDVD HD to rip blu-ray movies to my server, then Media Player Classic Homecinema to mirror playback on the 1080p screen and 1080p projector. Mirroring will break your HDCP chain, BTW.
