    Virtual servers? How and why?

The best way to make sure traffic goes over the dedicated crossover link is to use different IP addresses, hardwired without a default gateway, and access the share via IP address.

I would, too. But Merc is right; physics and all that. Hell, I would love a single 10GHz CPU.

There are a lot of fundamental freedoms here that I like. One of them is the freedom to be stupid. The only reason you are free to be stupid is that you shoulder the responsibilities of your actions yourself. As soon as that responsibility is assumed by the system, that same system will begin to...

I would argue that it depends considerably on what world you are from ;) I'm quite certain that you couldn't tell the difference between a machine with a Vertex and a machine with an X-25E if all I gave you was XP with Firefox and Office, even if they were side-by-side. Even basic Photoshop...

Middle-clicking links to open them in new tabs and middle clicking tabs to close them is my default usage, but I can't stand having an additional x on each tab. In addition to taking up space, it is too easy to hit the x when switching tabs.

Yup. The genetics wasn't that great to start with (Grandma had dentures at 30, mom at 50, dad at 55). Combine that with a dozen sodas a day for a decade, and I currently have about 27 cavities in the remaining ~26 teeth that haven't already been root-canaled or otherwise shelled.

I'll agree with time that having the x on each tab is a good default selection, as it makes the tab learning curve a little bit easier, but not being able to switch to the fore efficient single-x mode is really poor form.
