Doesn't DVDShrink use the Nero libraries? This could still be a Nero problem.

If there's a replacement model in the pipe, it might make sense that they no longer manufacture them (i.e., they're discontinued). Of course, there will be new drives available for sale for some time.

Older MAG monitors were great; these days, at best, they're nothing special. I can't speak for build quality, but as far as price-for-specification, if you're not looking to do anything horribly exciting, this will do. I'd also suggesting looking into higher-end used/refurbished monitors.

After furthur observation, it appears that the drive is reading at about half of what I'd expect. Actually, plus or minus a degree, it's almost always exactly half of the drive mounted closest to it. Does this point to any particular cause?

To the best of my knowledge, yes, but it's not as if Linux costs money. I've used it before from a Knoppix CD.

It's not very user friendly, but isn't hard to use and is entirely free.

As a buy-it-and-forget-it, Dells are fine. Just make sure that you buy from the small business, not home, side. Of course, with a little bit of effort, you can build a machine for less.

Beyond the regulatory issues, credit card people want you to use them. Everytime you make a transaction, they make money; and they make even more money when you carry a balance.

Mistake? They do this stuff on purpose. PayPal is setup so as to obfuscate and make difficult any system of correcting an error not in their favour. I was speaking about recourse through one's credit card. They, generally, actually care about you.

Yep. I've heard of PayPal taking money out of bank accounts without specific permission. They'll do the same thing with credit cards, but you'll have recourse.

I believe that there is at least one ActiveX plugin that should work for Firefox. This is, of course, a kluge, and opens up Firefox to many of the security risks inherent ActiveX.

Several models of Quadros and higher-end FireGL cards are dual-link capable. Presumably some of 3D Labs's Wildcat line are also capable.

I know that this issue has been largely (not completely) fixed in Mozilla. I haven't really noticed it occuring so much in Firefox unless I've left the browser minimized for some time.

Any more ideas? If this is something that I can fix, I'd rather not RMA an otherwise perfectly good drive....

I am not aware of any dual-link cards which are not workstation-grade. Your Radeon 9700 should be single-link.

Actually, copying your profile folder works pretty well. For many moons, this has worked with Netscape/Mozilla/Firefox.

The drive is reading ~18C, while drives around it are ~32 to 35C. I have recently swapped its position inside my case, but it was working fine there for about a day.

I figure that they'll be marked. Just get your retailer to let you look at it first....

Useless depends upon the source. Those extra data streams are pretty useful on the Macintosh.
