It's so nice when a plan comes together...

In my last apartment, I lived on the second floor. One of the tenants of the unit below me was a Hispanic family. Three adults and four children in a small single-bedroom apartment. The first thing they bought for their new place was a Wega TV and surround-sound speaker set. They always...

Was the new OS install booting from the old disk? If so, I'm curious as to how you were able to covert your system volume to dynamic, since they are expressly not bootable.

    CPU Optimised Firefox

All of the optimised Firefox builds that I've seen have some sort of patching, i.e. changing the code to make it work better on the target chips. That's at least a little more than just compile optimization. The problem that I'm seeing with browsers is that the latency of the Internet often...

    CPU Optimised Firefox

Here's a good source: http://www.pryan.org/mozilla/firefox/ I downloaded a couple of different builds. Right now, I'm testing mmoy's. I noticed that it was very fast opening twenty or so tabs simultaneously at start, but am hard-pressed to find differences in rendering individual pages at a time.

Buy now, enjoy now. Perhaps I'm unusual in this, but when I upgrade processors, I get a new motherboard, as well. Stuff changes too quickly these days to think that you're going to be able to make a CPU-only upgrade; if you actually can, call it a bonus. Unless you want a particular...

I have a friend who is older and definitely geekier than I. His personal digital assistant is a pad of paper and a pen used by his digits. Who says we're hesitant? I've never had the batteries run down on my address book and had it lose all its ink and pages. That sounds like superior...

Will beers explode in checked luggage?

The baggage compartment is pressurised. If they didn't pressurize it, the floor of the passenger deck would collapse. There have been incidences wherein a cargo door came open, depressurizing the baggage area and causing this to occur. If you take cans, you're less likely to explode, as the...
