Thanks mangydog, I knew they had to exist.

90° SATA cables that go the other way?

I'm fairly sold on the Supermicro C7X58 but I will hear suggestions. The only concern I have on it is all the other slots will be blocked so I couldn't add a sound card. About a non issue I think as the new board onboard sound should be fine for me, only reason I have a sound card now is my...

90° SATA cables that go the other way?

Truely. The Supermicro C7X58 I am considering has that, but then they went on and designed it so that the other expansion slots are all blocked if you are running on SLI with cards that are two slots wide. I was thinking the SATA ports being blocked would be easier to deal with.

Is it incorporated? I know that protects the individual but I am not sure what is says about floating corporate debts personally. At any rate doesn't sound good then. You think about where you want to move?

90° SATA cables that go the other way?

Very interesting, first I have seen those right angle cables. Unfortunately I think they would be too high anyway

90° SATA cables that go the other way?

Straight cables end up with this. Big video cards block some drive connectors on the board, really crappy design. I think you are right. These are images of the problem I found in a review and I am thinking about this board.

90° SATA cables that go the other way?

Yeah, I don't care about the lock. I think I will just have to grab a razor and make some cables if I decide to go this route.

90° SATA cables that go the other way?

Is there such a thing? Problem is in the pictures below, if the 90° connector goes that way it will block ports. Just looked at a lot of angled sata cable pictures and I have yet to find one that goes the opposite way from this picture. Considering a Intel DX58SO board which is what is...

Decisions decisions, found a guy selling a i7 965 EE on a forum but he wants $400 for it. I'd already decided I was going to pick up the i7 950 when it drops to $295 next month. 3.20ghz vs 3.06ghz, think I should do it?

Memory Node Interleaving - enable or disable?

I asked but he didn't know. He said if he remembered they would look at it the next time they bounce the box but I think it is in production so that's going to be a while. IMO if your OS supports NUMA you definitely want that on to avoid the cross buss data gathering hit. May want to look into...

Memory Node Interleaving - enable or disable?

I guess the (my?) point of confusion is NUMA and interleaving as we generally understand it are not mutually exclusive. Each memory controller can interleave on its own bank of memory and likely do even if NUMA is selected. You just aren't interleaving between all system memory in the whole box...

Memory Node Interleaving - enable or disable?

Found this explaining the situation. The way the architecture is organized with the memory controllers on die now you don't seem to have a choice but to do NUMA. Maybe if you only had the one CPU socket populated you could disable it or maybe the system presents to the OS as UMA and handles...

Memory Node Interleaving - enable or disable?

Are these multiple socket servers? If so any CPU design that has the memory controller on the CPU die and has multiple sockets is intrinsically NUMA, no way to get around that sense they moved the memory controller off of the chipset.

Memory Node Interleaving - enable or disable?

I might be grossly wrong on this but to put it in hard drive terms I think of interleave like RAID0 for memory and dual/triple channel like having two/three RAID adapter cards. You can interleave on one physical DIMM. All desirable things. The UMA and NUMA stuff has me confused though and the...

Memory Node Interleaving - enable or disable?

I think you could find out if it works relatively fast if you enable it and run memtest86 on the thing. I think it has taken a backseat with dual/triple channel? Or maybe they interleave within the channels too, don't know.

Memory Node Interleaving - enable or disable?

I believe enabled is best performance but the memory modules must match and be installed in the correct places.

    Intel RAID and TRIM yet?

Sure is, doesn't help at all when a lot of news posts don't mention this critical detail. You would think they would go back and correct the news posts. Marketing win for intel I guess, they got a lot of pressure off their back for people that want this but think they just got it.
