    Posting under the influence

Here's a thought; why not start a separate forum for Drunks only? It would give them something to do besides drive into telephone poles at night and it would it would give the rest of hours and hours of hilarious reading material at the same time. What say you boys?

    The Winter Olympics... who cares?

Those are some interesting ideas which would definitely liven things up! I would even watch to see that. One additional suggestion would be for the spectators throw tomatoes at the Pairs Skaters. Tickets to that event would sell out quick! :eekers:

    The Winter Olympics... who cares?

I know I don't. They've much ado about nothing. It used to be back in the "good ole" cold war days entertaining to watch the competition for medals. These days it's about as exciting as watching grass grow. Either that or I'm just really getting to be an old fart. Do you guys care about them?

    Poetic Justice has arrived....

GS, Good for you. We need as many good teachers as we can get. By details I only meant what you answered. I would never want you to break a confidence. BTW, I agree with you on your concept of what a moderator should be. Good Luck with the teaching!

    What's this Squire Crap?

I think it was Mercutio. I believe it was Tabolt who bit the dust along with him? Romeo I believe did Tabolt in. I really can't recall. The movie made back in the 60s' with Olivia De Hussy was excellent. I don't know any of you have ever seen it but I highly recommend it.

    Hyperthreading (SMT)

Well if anyone is not confused enough already as to what Intel is up to with SMP processors, check out this article for interesting news regarding the Prestonia and Foster-MP Xeons. It is really strange that according to the article, Intel still hasn't announced the Prestonias one month after...

Hmm... If you analyse it as follows it dimishes as expected; No. of mhz required per score point with PC 800 = 4.347mhz No. of mhz required per score point with PC 1066 = 5.277mhz No. of mhz required per score point with PC 1200 = 5.55mhz Differential in mhz required at 1066 vs. 800 = .93mhz...

    RDRAM Performance

Huh? This doesn't appear to be the case. From what I see they are saying exactly the opposite. What have I missed? I assume we are talking about the Sysmark scores? I thought it was common knowledge that none of Intel's engineering sample cpu's are multiplier locked. At any rate virtually all...

    RDRAM Performance

I'm in no position to dispute your numbers (nor do I have reason to) however I do disagree with your overall conclusion that this is not helpful to Intel. Benchmarks sell. It's as simple as that. It's not a smart way to buy, but it's true. Time after time (no pun intended) we have all seen...

    RDRAM Performance

I saw this article linked to in the Ars forum. It compares overall system improvement with higher speed RDRAM over PC800. Impressive improvement in Sysmark scores with PC1200 RDRAM. Looks like it will really help Intel in the cpu wars. http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/article/1444.6/

    OT: Apology to China

Yeah it's a shame he can't get a fight. It could be such a great sport if it wasn't for promoters and other scum being involved. Of course no one wants to fight Jones anyway. I saw one of his attempts to move up the heavyweight division a while back which appeared too much of a stretch for him...

    OT: Apology to China

He destroyed Mosley. Put him down in the second, then went on to thoroughly whip him through the rest of the rounds. It was not even close. Mosley lost a unanimous decision and his title. The Guy who won reminds me of Tommy Hearns. Tall and lankly with good power for his weight and plenty of...

    Hyperthreading (SMT)

    P4 anomalies..

By the way they could have done a little better job naming the article. P4 Anomalies is a bit misleading when they are talking about P4 performance only when Overclocked to the extreme. When they are running the P4 in an "anomaly" (out of spec) fashion to begin with what they are calling an...

Half Time score; Pats 14 - Pittsburgh 3

Anyone else as surprised as I am. I thought Pittsburgh would blow them out! Pittsburgh doesn't seem ready to play with all the dropped balls etc. Well they're a second half team so we'll see. With Brady seemingly out of the game Pittsburgh just might come back.
  49. F

    P4 anomalies..

Yes but mine are Prestonias not Northwoods. I don't have anyway to Overclock even I wanted to. Reading the article I wonder if this isn't an indication of something other than cpu speed being the bottleneck when running at such high speeds. Memory perhaps? Bus limitations?
