    Pitch drop experiment

Is there a point to this experiment? I mean is to find a way for insomniacs to get to sleep or what?

Whoopee!!!! We now have a thread at SR with 334 stupid jokes it in courtesy of Davis. What the hell is he doing?!? Where is that data base loss when you need it?

Reparations for Past Slavery in the USA

Well said Mercutio. I have often thought that the people you refer to, be they black or white, simply do not have a clue about life. Not about life in the world the rest of us live in anyway. Once in a while I'll watch one of those "Cop" television shows. Folks of the sort you describe above...

Well just be sure he treats you nice. After all, those nightly trips to the kitchen to get him hot Chocolate could be worth a lot of bananas some day with the right lawyer. :)

Reparations for Past Slavery in the USA

Which brings an interesting question to mind Tea, does Tannin keep you in a cage at night? Did he purchase you as if you were common livestock? Does he force you to sit in the back of the bus while rides up front? Has he ever put you on a leash? If so you might be due reparations yourself...

Not that it will have any more success in getting Davis to stop then it did Jason.

What do you think of this idea?

James, Fair enough. I knew there would be smirks as to the exclusion issue by some folks given my past comments on the subject. Hence my attempted circumvention (clumsy at it was) of this dilemma (note the careful avoidance of admitting one's hypocrisy) by referring to it as a "panel"...

Out on a hot date... Australian style?

    :eek4: Oh my God...
  18. F

What do you think of this idea?

P.S. As this is a panel discussion of sorts being proposed, my usual reservations about excluding certain folks would not apply. This is why I say we would do this by invitation only. The sort of folks I am interested in hearing from would be - zx, Balding_ape and shoemakc, and anyone else you...

What do you think of this idea?

Hee hee.. me thinks you fellows have been storing your ammunition up for a while now. I'd better be careful. Both Tannin and James make valid points above. And I will check out the Economist James. To clarify what I am suggesting we allow here and what has been proposed by Yuyo: 1)...

Please guys we're catching enough flack in Europe already for having used depleted uranium armor piercing shells in the Gulf War. Just the thought of using actual nukes in Afghanistan brings to mind visions of hand wringing Lawyers lining up in front of the World Court to file their damage suits...

What do you think of this idea?

Jake - You're right actually. Just ignore that part of my post above. Coug - You can have longer my friend and then post your vote in this thread vs. the actuall poll. Or you can just save yourself a lot of trouble and vote yes now and not worry about reading the 225 posts at all. :)

    Remember Ravi Shankar?

I happened to catch "Monterey Pop" on the boob tube last night just in time to catch Ravi playing his sitar (whoopee!) for what was ten minute's worth of pure torture. But seeing all those hippies in the crowd was a hoot. I never was into Ravi back then in '67 though I was a huge Beatles fan...

Oh and if you do decide to go with a garphic artist, my sister is a fairly talented one. Here's her site - http://www.smallpotatoesdesign.com/ - She used to publish her rates on there but I don't if she still does or not. And no, I don't get a commision on any business I refer to her.

What I did on my holidays

Clipton, I don't know all that much about physics but wouldn't a gas get lighter (expands) as it gets warmer? And doesn't it's weight (density) determine it's mass? If so that would explain the phenomenon mentioned earlier. Bill

What I did on my holidays

As regards water only. I once heard that every drop of water ever placed upon the earth is still with us billions of years after it's arrival. It can be contaminated of course, but fortunately never "used up". Where the hell is it going to? Has to be elsewhere on earth.

What I did on my holidays

Well done Tannin! I can sympathise with your situation there in Oz. We have a terrible problem with salt water intrusion here in Florida. The water table has dropped considerably and consistently over the last 20 years to the point where saltwater has intruded and spoiled virtually all of the...

    Moving day and furniture

Mercutio, Actually I moved everything myself the first divorce. Back then my Son's weren't old enough yet to help. The second time I hired a local Moving guy to help. That cost about $120 which was a fortune at the time. I hate asking anyone for help! My friends all lived too far away to bother...

Well being somewhat of an expect on "Early Divorce Motif", I would reccomend Garage Sales. I've decorated my home through purchasing at them in times past. You'd be surprised at the decent quality pieces you can pick up at bargain prices. Congrats by the way and good luck.

    Whose war on whose terrorism?

Ah ha! My mistake, I thought he was talking about G.W. Bush being the "bonsai" in relation to G.H.W. Bush. No wonder the "home grown" reference seemed obscure in it's meaning. :) Sorry about that Gents.

I cannot beat Dell in the budget segment.

Low price is only part of the reason folks select a particular vendor. Having you right there in Montreal would be a very important plus for me if I were living there as well and looking to buy a PC. This is assuming you bathe at least once a month or so! :) Seriously, service is very important...
