I usually end up taking the Month of December off, or lose the vacation time.

I want to buy just the heat sink from a WD Velociraptor. I found them here but I have never heard of this outfit. Anybody have any information or posibly some where else I could purchase a WD Icepack? Thanks

If you are running XP, try doing a repair install. You might want to slipstream the drivers for all your hardware into XP first. And SP-3. This type of install shouldn't srew with your programs.

I have noticed the same thing on our network at work. Using a removable drive so the hardware was the same, going to and from the same XP computer, the Linux install was glacial. The data traveled through 3 Cisco Gb switches. We screwed with this for a day and never could get the Linux install...

One of the most aggravating things to me is that the BIOS changes the boot order if you change any hardware. IE: if you set up the BIOS to boot the CD and then the hard drive, if you change the hard drive, the BIOS wants to boot from it first. Does the new Intel "BIOS" have this same bug?

How do you know if Trim is working? Is there a way to run Trim manually? What I would like to do is have trim run once a week at 3AM, but I have yet to find a way to do this. Spending time on Google just confuses me more.

IBM (Hitachi) and WD have been in bed with each other for a long time. WD and Hitachi both had 5 pin molex connectors on their SATA drives for a while. Along with a SATA power connection.

The Revodrive sounds good, but not many motherboards have a x4 PCIe slot. Will it work in a x1 PCIe slot?

Thanks for all the replies! :-D I'm I have some P4 motherboards with D845 shipsets on them. They will probably work. Although they are 9 years old, they are still newer than the HP Vectras they are using now.
