The thread for asking of feedback on beta /. is now over 800 posts... The funny thing is, if you try and read that item in beta, the beta site isn't able to respond correctly at all. (The load more comments button fails).

Yes, all manufacturers test their drives, but if those numbers are correct, then I hate to tell you, that's an old drive. (Most drives I've just tested brand-new out of the packet, all have less than 5 power up on the count - mix of WD and Seagate). What's the exact model number on the WD800...

Better for me as well at work... at home about the same, but I think that is more our ADSL connection acting up and not this site. (We've been getting lots of line drops at home).

IIRC, PS3's OS was also based on FreeBSD as well... but the SDK used a variation of OpenGL (PSGL) and custom input APIs very different from anything else. I would suspect the PS4 would follow suit in that regard but can't say as I haven't seen or read too much about the PS4 SDK... IIRC, SteamOS...

No idea, never returned anything through Crucial before. (Most other manufacturers, it has always been within 3 business days on consumer stuff, or 24 hours on SMB/Enterprise stuff).

I would have said the same, but there are 3 drives and only 1 is acting slow in the same config. IMHO that rules out the drive controller, OS, etc and pinpoints the issue as the drive.

This is why... IIRC, most firmware programs only work reliably off AHCI/IDE controllers and not off SAS controllers... (That's been my experience anyway). The performance is certainly below par and may be a symptom of a bad controller or bad cache on the drive. Contact Crucial and get an RMA...

SpeedSteep always the OS to change the CPU frequency/speed depending on work completed and thermal effects. The more work the CPU is doing, the higher it will clock itself. The less work, it'll underclock itself to reduce power consumption and thus reduce heat output. PS. If you need further...
