    Empire in Decline

I didn't like Trump then, I really don't like Trump now, I just wish people would stop giving him attention as that's apparently all he seems to want. When all eyes and ears are on him he seems to be at his happiest. I won't be voting for him this November and I didn't vote for him in November...

Okay, so some things have changed. I'm on my fourth super IO card, this one being ISA, and it seems to work fine. Round about as fast (or slow) as the VLB one it replaced, more reliable, it just works... I had awful luck going through these things. My second VLB card was unreliable (in fact it...

Just so you all know I'm alive (the 'rona didn't get me), I've been building a 486 desktop. It's been going well -- I've been messing with it for the last few days and it's worked very well but I'm planning to take it up a few notches. I broke my singular VLB super-IO card by trying to solder...

Intel 10th Gen Comet Lake CPU @ 5.3GHz

Apparently the 10900F will consume 224W for 10c/20t. Ouch. I consume less than half that -- hell, a little over a quarter that -- for over half the core count. Of course I'm not at the blistering clockrates of the 10900F and at that price-point, power consumption doesn't matter for much...

I feel like that'd just start WW3 with how closely tied the businesses are with their government. One we could never hope to win -- we don't make anything anymore, we have something like a fifth of the population and even less with the stomach to fight. I know I wouldn't do it. That said, I do...

This bit really got me thinking. I hadn't really thought of it that way and the more I do, the more it makes sense. Then again, Trump's always the type to do what he wants, damn the press. His people will fervently support him either way -- they're like a damn cult. Wouldn't be at all surprised...

Well damn. My pulse was too high to give blood. 112 when their threshold is 100 -- I had a cup of coffee earlier not thinking about it and I don't like needles on the best of days. I drove 25 miles for nothing.

The Red Cross needs blood. I'm O-, or so all the junk mail they've sent me over the years says. I'm going in dressed to the gills, who knows what I've come into contact with where I work...

Personally I believe this would have hit us hard no matter who was in office. It wasn't just Trump, I don't think anyone would have really been prepared for it to hit US shores and quickly make its way into the urban population. Some would have perhaps handled it better, taken less time to...

People are sick and dying. Now is not the time to have political hang-ups. We need to get much further on constructive conversation. But alas, such is humanity. My symptoms almost entirely cleared up by, oh, Wednesday. I've still got a little bit of congestion going on but I blame that on...

Longer than a normal cold maybe, but I'm not exhibiting my normal flu-like symptoms -- I'm not lethargic at all, just sneezing my head off and hacking up a lung every three minutes. Plus, the flu knocks me flat on my ass for a week at least, so I'm still well-within that range.

I still don't feel significantly better, but the swelling in my lymph nodes went down, and as with yesterday and Saturday, I don't have a fever. It's just that every time I cough or sneeze feels like razorblades coming up my throat. My cough dried up, sometimes it was productive before, but...

I called out from work yesterday because I had a cough.
