Review.

According to their tests, the drive is very fast. It gives the 10Krpm class a run for their money. The new Caviar is advertised at 250U$.

Actually, I think some of the Hitachi drives are re-labeled WDs. I just recieved some 250GB Hitachi SATA drives that have the molex power connector on them...like WDs.
IBM and WD had a very close working relationship for a long time.

No. Several Hitachi models, leaded by the new 1TB drive, have performances close to the Western Digital drives.
So, Western Digital has 7200RPM drives close in performance to their own, crappy 10k RPM drives; and Hitachi has drives close in performance to that 7200RPM drive?

"Western Digital drives" ostensibly refers to all models that the company manufactures; yet, that makes little sense in context.

Eugene posted a review of the same 750GB WD drive a few days ago. It is the second-fastest Western Digital drive in SR benchmarks, second to the 150GB Raptor. It lags the 1TB Hitachi by a good margin though.
