Replacement power cord for Dell Inspiron 8200

Hey all,
The power cord for my Dell Inspiron 8200 is worn thin around the junction between the brick and the thin round cord going to the laptop. I can see the silver wire insulation. I'd prefer to get a replacement before it breaks. Are there "generic" version out there that are safe to use, or do I really need to go through Dell?

Take it to a general electronics repair shop, same place you would take you TV to be mended. They will be able to replace the cord for a fraction of what it costs to replace the whole unit.
