Folder encrytion softwares

I have a customer who wants to password-protect the content of a few folders. I'm almost never asked to do that. Before hitting Google, I thought asking you guys about it. The OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. He doesn't want to encrypt his entire profile, just a few folders.

The only encryption software I use (and not that often) is Truecrypt. Free, open-source, and fairly certainly unbreakable. I wouldn't bother with anything else.

Use the "Encrypted File Container" option. Store the sensitive files there.

I've been using Truecrypt for the last 8 years or so. Has never, ever, failed. Be warned, if you forget the password you're screwed. There are ways to back up the key access info; make sure you read up.

Do you have to put in the password each time you access that folder or when windows launches?

You are accessing a container that mounts as a logical drive.

Sorry was out a couple of days. LM is correct. Use Truecrypt to mount the encrypted container (folder) as a logical drive. Then access / use it. All use is transparent. You can drag and drop, open a file with an app, etc. When done, use Truecrypt to unmount the drive. Or shutdown the PC, which by default (Truecrypt setting) unmounts all enrypted logical drives.
