I've got a half-dozen original ATI CDs sitting around my desk, absolutely none of which work with the CD-checking program that runs prior to upgrading or installing ATI DVD software on R300-based ATI cards.

If someone has one (from a 9[5-8]00) they'd be willing to part with temporaril, or to copy in ISO form, I'd make it worth your while.

I have an installation CD for the Sapphire 9500 non-Pro. Are you interested?

I made an ISO of it using Nero. 520MB overall.

Unfortunately, it has to be from ATI for the DVD software update to work.

It turns out that ATI's hardware MPEG2 decoding makes a big difference to playback quality on my HTPC

I have the original ATI CD that came with my retail Radeon 32MB DDR. I probably have the oldest video card running in my main PC!

Yeah. I should still have the CD from my 9700 and a couple of retail 9500s I sold, but the installer from ATI's site isn't working with those.

What the heck do you guys do with your old (just replaced) video cards anyway? They seldom break and among others, I probably have a Vesa Genoa in a box somewhere.

It's not much of a problem for me. I pass my "old" ones out in builds.

My current inventory:
ATI 9800Pro (2003 Server)
ATI 9700AIW (Gaming system)
Sapphire 9600AIW (HTPC, because it's quieter, draws less power and can tune FM)
Sapphire 9000VIVO (Linux Fileserver 1 and no, the VIVO features don't work)
2x Matrox G450 (Fileservers 2 and 3)
3dfx Voodoo 5500 (Linux workstation)

I pulled a Powercolor Radeon 9100 to install the 9800.

+ whatever the heck is in my laptop (s3 Savage4something or other)

I don't like the 9800 already. The wart on top of the GPU of this thing looks, well, evil. It isn't terribly noisy, though.

You could always try a Zalman cooler, Blake, or one of those 80mm lateral exhaust fans that screws into an expansion slot.
