It is similar in Sweden, we have Bank-ID, not developed by the state but the large banks and defacto standard, useful almost anywhere in the digital domain. Maybe it's easier to implement these things in smaller countries? I think Estonia is the most digitalized countries in the world.

MS authentication is frustrating in so many ways. I feel that the process is broken if Microsoft accepts land line telephone numbers but don't offer a "Call me back" option, like some of the other online services do.

SQL Server is the only Microsoft product I like. (Except maybe some keyboard or mouse back in the days) Advice: If you want to earn big bucks, stand by a product that is as expensive (like $7500/core for Enterprise Edition) as possible and become really good at it. (Of course, in Sweden we work...

SSDs - State of the Product?

I agree. Perhaps 8 TB is pushing the limits of current technology? I imagine it's easier to manage cooling, reliability and so on in the 3.5/2.5/EDSFF formats. In the server space M.2 are more common as boot drives where I suppose they see a lot less activity than their carrier mounted friends...

It was not a bit of a fight, ot was really serious business. Almost as bad as soccer supporters in Europe, but without physical fighting. :) I had both the C64 and Amiga 500, they were really nice computers, the Amiga had specialized chipsets for graphics, sound and MMU (Denise, Paula & Agnus)...

    Cycling

That is still very good, I hope you get back into your normal routine. I managed to ride 5000 km last year, up from previous years of 1500-1600 km. For me, riding outdoor is still the best when the weather lets me, great way to let the thoughts wander and enjoy the local scenery in 3D. 🙂

    Cycling

I had a few years when I didn't ride bikes very much. One year I started riding like crazy, because we only have like 3 months of summer and got an injury. In early 2019 we got a dog, during the pandemic I got too fat for cycling clothes. But a while I bought an indoor trainer (Kickr V5) and...

But Danish, Norwegian and Swedish are all very closely related, if you can speak one you can usually understand the others. Norwegian is maybe my favourite language of the three because the...

Man, this sounds impossible, even the poor danish children start talking later than others because they talk so strange. 🙂 Sweden and Norway is also nice, and Belgium also seems to be OK (besides Netherland). But your skills should be in high demand anywhere. I hope it sorts itself out soon.

We use a moka pot, size 6 is perfect for one large mug. https://www.bialetti.com/ee_en/venus.html Just fill with water + coffee and wait a couple of minutes. Welcome to the nordic countries. :) I hope you and the family like it here. Denmark is really nice, should be the perfect base if you want to travel around Europe. I have a ~1200 km trip to make within Sweden before I even reach Denmark or Germany.

    Mech keyboards

I bought a Varmilo with their EC Sakura switches a while ago. They click and requires mute during Teams meetings, but I like the feeling of both the keyboard (heavy+dampened) and the switches. My only other experience with mechanical switches is with MX Red + the IBM in 1987 or so.

I wouldn't mind 48 GB of RAM, then you will not have to worry about buying more RAM for a few years. 256 GB would be great for hosting a VM with SQL Server. :)

    Access stand-alone

Glad to hear that it worked out. Access is not bad for its intended use, just a long time since I used it. As a side note, it's also quite easy to kill performance in SQL Server. :)

    Access stand-alone

I believe Access has a database size limit of 2GB? I now remember a story from 1995, where a guy working for our city council apparently decided to build a journaling system to store all incoming+official documents - in an Access database... The documents were of course scanned and stored as...
