X15-36LP Quieter than Atlas 10K III

Since this thread was resurrected, I noted something special in the words of our dear Tannin: Although I will use it out of Tannin's context, the word that struck me was: waxed. Is it just me, or does anyone else see the humor in using the term wax in conjuction with a subject regarding...

    Parrot Joke

A woman gets onto a bus with her baby. The bus driver says, "That's the ugliest baby that I've ever seen. Ugh!" The woman goes to the rear of the bus and sits down, fuming. She says to a man next to her, "The driver just insulted me!" The man says, "You go right up there and tell him off. Go...

A funny thing happened after cricket tonight

It is a shame that governmental groups fall short of their promises, but to some extent, it is expected. I don’t see humor in the plight of those disabled in some form, and they desperately need out attention. However, I did find humor in the story that Tannin wrote because I can see the...

    Western Digital - Warranty Change?

I've sold a few systems that required that clause. I think that is how Tannin feels about the one ECS board he's had returned and then sold again.

    Leadtek mainboards - good?

Thanks for the pictures Time. The ZIF connector seems very close to the edge of the board too, right where a PS will be. That would make it a pain to remove the heatsink. Also, the ATX connecter is pretty close the CPU and in the path of heat coming off of the heatsink. I am glad to see only...

    Leadtek mainboards - good?

I have not tried this board from Leadtek, but if ECS can make that SIS chipset work, I don't see why Leadtek can't do a better job. How is the build quality when you take a close look at it? Having 6 PCI slots plus integrated sound and LAN is very convenient, although the CNR is obviously a...

    Motherboard Prices

I've been updating my price list for KT333 boards and I'm amazed at how different the prices end up being for similar board. Nevertheless, at the present, Gigabyte and MSI are priced very close to each other, with a rebate on the MSI boards, so they're $3.00 less. Asus is terribly high at the...

    Boring reliability cross-post

Almost all Western Digital drives received as replacement are refurbished. It is rare that they are not. As was mentioned, you will see the letter "r" as part of the date code, which will indicate that it is refurbished. Recently WD decided to print the word in full. This was done not for...

When I use the WD400BB and WD800BB they don't seem any faster then when I use a SP4002H or a SP8004H. But I suspect that this would lead back to benchmarking drive performance.
