    Abusive union

The balance of supply and demand is self sustaining. Using unions to create artificially high manufacturing costs will only hurt our economy. I must be missing something. I (like most others here) work in an industry without unions, and mostly without standardised certification (it exists, but...

    Abusive union

My mom's a public school teacher, so I agree. But an artificial support in a capitalist society is wrong. When workers get shit on, they have the right to leave. When lower quality labor comes in and does a bad job, the consumer has a right to buy from a different manufacturer. It's the...

    Goodbye (for now)

I also think your journey worthy of a published work. If you're going to crank out a simple version just for us anyway, might as well do it right and make the journey tax-deductable.

Outlook XP and Exchange (not storage related)

Hardly. I am not trained on AS/400s, and have no desire to be. From the basic functions I have performed, I am glad to be rid of it. Besides the fact that using emulator cards and an entirely seperate network topology is completely nuts.

Outlook XP and Exchange (not storage related)

We are ditching the AS/400 for a windows-based product. It is set for 'NT Password Authentication' Phisycal security is good, and the systems auto log off (at least his does), so I think passwords during launch would only piss him off.

Outlook XP and Exchange (not storage related)

Thanks for the tips. My next move is to join his computer to the .local domain and see what happens. I am pretty familar with building an AD, and am in the process of fixing things. This was a company that grew to 50 people before deciding to hire a local (crappy) company to set them up. The odd...

    Temperature

When I was hiking in the Himalayas they had a system rigged to the sat-phone uplink. IIRC it was at about 15000ft (Anapurna range), it was for requesting medivac from altitude sickness ;) It looked like a stock white box.

    Temperature

Here the temp never goes below 65F if the systems are running, but it will go above 100F if I leave the blinds open, the door closed, and the systems running (the window is about 5'x5' and double-paned, greenhouse affect is amazing). No problems. I do have systems running in non-enviro...

Well, it's working great so far. I've managed to cap using MMC and filtered using VDub (FlaXen filter). The DVD authoring I will do on another PC, this box doesn't have a burner capable of DVD+R (older set-top compatible). Thanks for all the help!

    Building a Storage Server Thread

Well, I wouldn't feel too bad about two arrays of two in RAID0. At least you're only doubling your chance of failure.

    Building a Storage Server Thread

That's what I've heard as well. A RAID0 for working and a RAID1 for storage would probably be the best way. Depends if that controller supports the "striped read" of RAID1 arrays.

I just got back from my soon-to-be brother-in-law's house. He has Nintendo, SNES, N64, and Gamecube (with GB/GBA emulator) all wired in his living room right now. Listening to GB games on surround sound is...intersting. He's especially proud of his comprehensive collection of Zelda games. :)

Just about anything would be faster, but cheaper? This thing has everything integrated for $123. Tack on the added reliability bonus of not requireing a CPU fan; this means any fan failures would not instantly kill the system.
