Sound cards are weird. I've tried a bunch of cards, Philips, Sound Blaster, etc. in a Dell dimension xpsr400, and none worked. Went to an ISA Yamaha Opl3SAXWDM and it works fine. :roll: Go figure...

Most raids suck at small block transfers... under 64k low rates are normal. If you want blinding speed, format for 32-64k, or even 128k, and use fat 32. Have a Merry Chirstmas. PS: I use an old ATTO card, dual channel, ultra 160, and it doesn't really start jumping until 64k.

ok I;ll give that a try I've changed the settings to 20 mb for hardisk storage for frequently cached pages. It's just odd that on one machine, with 384, lots of caching, on one with 512, hardly any. Weird. Maybe I'll put Mozilla on the Dell. s

HI On this Dell, with one quantum LM, and, 2000 sp3, 384 mb of ram, the machine is hitting the hard disk all the time, and it really slows down websurfing. Any suggestions on the internet options settings for IE to minimize this? s

Kind os shocked... This is the first 'mac like' sp that I've run into. First time anything that was in anyway important to me was a step backwards in a sp, instead of forwards. It's kind of funny that the same scsi 'fix' is supposed to be in the new XP service pack, too. Glad I'm not running...

SP 3, sucks on scsi... I've got between 20 and 10% slower drive test speeds, with the current scsi "Fix" then I did with SP 2. Not real scientific, but close. See the thread I started... s
