Nichia Develops 60 Lumen Per Watt White LED

The biggest issue I have with CFL is the flimsy glass; I've broken too many trying to put them in the socket or take them out. Since the CFL glass tube is usually long, trying to put them in a wall socket with a built in fluted shade is a nightmare. Incandescents never had this problem; never...

Printing Exif Info for a bunch of pics

I think you hit the nail on the head, LM. D700 in spot focus, matrix metering mode. Thom Hogan's book on the D700 says: Most of the stage was dark. Even though I think I focused on a face, half pressed the shutter and recomposed the shot, many faces in each shot were overexposed (burned...

Printing Exif Info for a bunch of pics

I'd like print out the Exif info for a bunch of pics; I'll pipe the output to PDFs. Output can be in one file with the picture file name preceding the Exif dump for that pic (so I can identify which pic the info belongs to), or it can be multiple files, one file of Exif info per pic. I took a...

I was eyeing one, especially because I drove a lot over the Christmas holidays and wanted to use it for navigation. I ended up buying a dedicated GPS device instead. I've never used a CDMA phone, so I have no idea how to change anything there. My experience is limited to GSM phones. In your world, that's either AT&T or T-Mobile (mostly). In the GSM Samsung Galaxy S (also known as Vibrant, Fascinate or Captivate, depending on the carrier) running Android...

    Android phones: Tips, tricks?

No idea. It's usually in your phone set up options. If it's a GSM phone, under the "Network Mode" option, you'll see an option to use GSM or UMTS. GSM is 2G, UMTS is 3G.

    Android phones: Tips, tricks?

Using the phone in 3G mode drains the battery a lot quicker than using it in 2G. I keep my phone in 2G mode unless I want to look something up on the net. It takes a few seconds to switch it to 3G, do my data thing, and switch it back to 2G. Email sync with Exchange works just fine with 2G.
