    Limewire

Limewire is just a Gnutella client, so if you're after content off the gnutella based network, then try one of the other clients listed here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gnutella PS. Used Limewire a LONG time ago on MacOS 9.2, which it was ok at the time. But still preferred WinMX over it...

20 vs. 30 amps. Which is cheaper?

Overall, it won't make that much difference between the 2 cards, certainly not $100 in electricity over 12mths. I would just get the cheaper card, and save your $$$ for beer and women (or for that 2GB of RAM). PS. Welcome to SF PPS. What games? as some games prefer ATi vs nVidia and vice versa.

Vista: The first 24hrs with Vista

Work laptop... I only play it at LANs, which I take the laptop... (Anyway, the current release of WINE apparently plays BF2 ok-ish, so that has FBSD covered). BF2 only requires Hardware T&L, and initial tests by Intel (taken with a grain of salt), say 1024x768 medium detail is "playable"...

Vista: The first 24hrs with Vista

Vista, the first week Well, it's been a week now. Admittedly Vista isn't all bad, however the bad points are certainly greater in number than the good points, which IMHO make the system Beta quality at best. I've found out the problem with Battlefield 2, which in the end wasn't Vista fault...

Vista: The first 24hrs with Vista

Tannin, unfortunately we are being pushed to use Vista (so that our compna support staff can support it, and the applications that the company develops on it). Since I mainly doing system infrastructure planning and system installations, I need to know Vista. (and how it'll effect the business...

Vista: The first 24hrs with Vista

Hi Guys, Work has purchased a new laptop for me (I got to choose the model, it had to be a HP however, since the company I work for is a HP reseller), and it came with Vista Business x64. Specs: HP 6710b, Intel C2D T7500, 2GB RAM, 160GB HDD, DVD-RW, etc. IMHO it's a pretty sweet laptop, except...

    Best MP3 ripper/burner

I only rip on FreeBSD, and use either cdda2wav/lame from the commandline, or if feeling lazy will use 'Grip' if I'm enconding both MP3 and FLAC versions from a DVD-A or CD. On Windows, I know WM11 can rip to MP3 (Tools > Options > Rip Music and select MP3). However it only does CBR, not VBR...

Here is OZ, Fuji S6500fd (or S6000fd as it's known in the US) is ~AU$460, vs Nikon D40 is ~AU$930... and for an extra AU$250 to get the D40 with a twin lens pack (total AU$1180). (AF-S DX 18-55mm f3.5-5.6G ED II and AF-S DX 55-200mm f4-5.6G ED lens).

Has there ever been a definitive answer on CMOS vs CCD? It seems recently that many players in the field are switching between the two technologies, so been hard to get an layman's idea of which is the desired technology to have in your camera? What really slows Windows down

Interesting article. However I've noted that the latest version of TrendMicro PC-Cillin 2007 loves RAM. (Don't install it on systems with only 256MB of RAM, you need at least 512MB). The company I work for, has recently advised NOT to use Norton products due to incompatibilities between it and...

    AMD price cuts 7-9-07

Don't forget that for most dual/quad socket systems cost more upfront as well, so people tend to value the system more. eg motherboard typically 3-5x the cost, 2x for the CPUs, more for Reg/ECC RAM or FBDIMM's. My personal 2CPU system is approaching 3yrs old, and will be keeping it for at least...

    Best movie you've seen

Getting a little OT... MI was a great series... Great pirate swashbuckling adventures, where voodoo magic was common place, swords fights won with the best insults, and fun/stupidity was placed above all else! The puzzles where damn hard as well! (Well for a 13 yr-old anyway). Back OT... Yep...

    ZFS

I've been playing with it on FreeBSD-CURRENT. Very sexy technology... But due to lack of spare drives (only have 2 drives in the volume), most of the good technology goes to waste. eg, hotswap drives, redundant data arrays, etc. I personally see ZFS taking over from the other volume managers...

My personal preference for a single topping pizza is either a triple smoked ham, or last night's left over pork roast meat... (The pork is slow roasted on a webber bbq, marinated with a honey/mustard glaze). Any left over meat makes for a great next-night pizza topping... Mmmm...

    Ø character input in IE7
