    Webcams and simple software?

I'm getting a bunch of requests about webcams and simple software. People want to talk to grandma or the grand kids. I'm hoping for recommendations on the best cheap cameras (under $50), and the simplest software to use. I have never done it, so I'm hoping someone here has. Thanks.

The Samsung is purely a staging area for backups. All the running VMs will be on the SSD, with scheduled clones to the Samsung at night. This is part of a successful backup strategy I've used for a while. Every machine backs itself up to a local store during the "maintenance window" at night*...

All great comments, Coug. And by the time I get aproval for this project (another month or so), Gigabyte will likely have a motherboard that supports i7. In the meantime, this can be a price placeholder. I picked the twelve hundred because of airflow and looks; I'm tempted to get the skeleton...

Video on DSLR is an afterthought, but a rig like this seems to make it less kludgy. It is, of course, still video. And therefore not what I am interested in. But it doesn't seem specifically worse than any other 1080P video camera.

    Gaming across 3 monitors?

Thanks for the info. It looks like the product I'm looking to beat uses the TripleHead2Go, as their supported product list is identical. I consider the lost resolution unacceptable, so I'll likely be going to a single 65" and calling it good.

    Gaming across 3 monitors?

If I had 3 52" 1080P screens in front of me, and I wanted games to play across all three (driving simulators specifically), what would it take? Is this only possible with software that is designed for it? Most gaming cards only have two outputs, would games support a pair of cards? Is ATI or...

I suspect it depends on your emergency room, or more specifically, your neighborhood. If there are a significant number of people without health insurance, they go into the emergency room for anything, so they get flooded with patients who don't pay, so the hospital stops putting resources into...

SSDs - State of the Product?

They all get resold/redistributed. My home machine now holds the old SSDs, but because they are so small, that machine also has the Raptors as data drives. The 360GDs went out in workstations, and the Velociraptor (that was only in my machine for 2 weeks) got put in my boss' machine.

Alaska Sen Stevens has officially lost.

He campaigned on how much money he brought to the state. Not how much they needed, or what use that money was. If all you want from the feds is money, someone like him is who you want getting it for you. Further, his seniority alone guarantees that the new guy won't be able to do as much.
