So I downloaded a couple of free music tracks in iTunes (this might be the first time I downloaded music in iTunes). Immediately after hitting download I got a notification on my phone saying that if I enabled automatic downloads then purchases made on other devices elsewhere can automatically...
The screen is a big one for sure but if you are doing something like a lot of web browsing that actually hits the processor fairly hard too. That and games like sims or gta3 are the quickest way I have found to drain a battery.
I may be mistaken but I think the remote assistance deal with windows takes care of the path to the internet through a NAT router by contacting microsoft and using them as a proxy. What I don't like is apparently you also need to exchange some sort of key via email. I explored it a bit but...
Got the battlestar bluray series today, got it from Amazon.co.uk and saved almost $50 from US prices plus it comes region free.
The alien anthology collection was the same way as well.
No idea why it is cheaper to buy from over there than just walking across the street here.
Presumably because he wants them to be able to watch what he is doing so they can do it next time.
Also I think on single user desktop machines doesn't it log out the local operator when someone RDPs in?
The last one was crap as far as I was concerned and the apple base station extreme is actually a lower price though that likely won't last (as the linksys goes on sale). I didn't keep up to date on the last one but they had some serious firmware problems and I don't know if they ever fixed it...
There is a built in remote assistance that works OK the one time I used it. Also like teamviewer. Keep seeing logmein being mentioned as well.
Tight VNC is easy to install too, I thought so anyway.
Merc, did you do the update on the fire yet? I think they fixed some of the lag issues on the home screen and page turn with that BUT I heard they blocked sideloading apps/CM7 by breaking root. Not sure on that but you might want to check into that before hitting update.
I don't and I fully realize maybe 2/3 of the music on my device I likely might not like or hit skip on. Some sort of OCD about completeness I think, don't like splitting up an album. I do at times listen to whole albums and find something I liked and didn't know about.
Saw on verge Twitter this morning that Verizon data was down. My Verizon BlackBerry was claiming 3G and BES connected, but after trying the browser loading Google locked up the whole phone. Not even alt caps del worked, had to pull the battery to reboot. After that everything worked so not sure...
Assuming it is similar to the perc6i (also LSI but with dell labels) there is an overide to allow write back cache in the bios setup screens even though there is no bbu attached.
In the dell/lsi software package I can see the status of the cache but don't see a place to overide it.
Not even donating them to one of the many organizations that can use them?
Are they concerned about the info that might be on them and have no faith in the device info wiping ability?
That's my point here, they do work and I was a happy blackberry user for years but I wasn't exposed to other things until I got a ipod touch (apples gateway drug) to replace my asus a696 and realized how much better the user experience can be.
What do you mean by destroyed?
Damn straight, slow down and support the things for a while. Especially recognize people are locked into a device for two years.
Back of the current costco flyer I got is a tmo my touch4g, att galaxyS2, and a verizon stratosphere. I only recognize the name of the middle one.
More rage on a simple task of previewing a ring tone.
Once you have navigated the gauntlet of menus to see the ringtone list this is the list of ringtones on the phone.
Scroll down to one you like the description of, but DO NOT click on it. Clicking on it will select it and will not play it...
Upgrading the OS on the BlackBerry broke a proprietary paging client called a3 antenna. fail.
Apparently the company is now using some new software called Amp smartclient. Installing this new software required a reboot of the BlackBerry. Why does installing an app require a reboot?
The reboot...
That's pretty much what I do, get them via other means and get the dvd/bluray later. Problem is there are plenty of shows not really worth that second step. I wouldn't mind paying to stream them near their air date, if I could.
As good as Mad Men? I read some reviews that suggested it wasn't.
Damn, just noticed that I can flag emails for follow-up now. I've only been asking for that for five years. 2011 the year blackberry and apple bring flag for follup to email.
OK I guess I missed the coverage yesterday.

There is a need for this stuff, helps them fix things but the carrier IQ stuff goes way beyond what I thought they were getting. Looks like it isn't as much of a problem on iPhone though.
Remember once the carrier has all this stored somewhere all it takes is a server breach at the carrier.

I think I already had that off but worth checking.

People are just pissed that it wasn't disclosed or able to be removed or disabled. I can see aspects of it really help the carriers and manufacturers.
Should be a stand alone app.
Surprised there isn't more of a media shitstorm over it given what happened with apple over locationgate and that...
I think the point he was pushing on the fire is being $200 doesn't make it good. The software/OS sounds like it needs a bit of work to get up to good. Someone else described it as meeting all of amazons business goals of getting tablets in front of users but rarely makes a decent user...
It appears carrier iq is even on apples phones according to chpwn but it looks like it can be disabled and doesn't have a key logger apparently. Nokia says they don't have it for sure, but I wonder if that is just a setup to say the carriers put it on there when/if it gets found.
The key...
