That is a bit difficult to put into words but the essential meaning is to: Not lose one's resolve. Not waver from one's goal. Forge ahead with one's ambitions in a time of challenge. ****** Lastly, I found this in an online dictionary: "An attitude of determined endurance or restraint in...

Frankenstein's Monster Update The YS Tech TMD-Fan has been removed and replaced with an 80mm Vantec "Tornado" fan. This is the loudest and highest airflow 80mm fan available. It spins at 5700rpm, flows 84.1 cfm, and is rated at 55.2 dba noise by the manufacturer. (A review site actually...

    Beverages

Even though I disdain Starbucks I will go there on occasion to get a Chai. Either hot or iced (depending on the temperature outside). Chai is a weird tasting drink and seems to be an acquired taste given the reactions I've noted from friends that I've had try it. Still, it is the one thing that...

Papst fans - are they not supposed to be quiet?

Just use a good rheostat. My method is to take a newly acquired fan and hook up to a spare 12v rail through a rheostat in a test harness. The rpm sense lead is connected to the unused motherboard chassis fan header. I will connect everything then start increasing resistance on the fan until it...

Full day heat update: With the ambient temperature now at about 86°F/30°C I am seeing that the SLK-800 with TMD-fan is up at 59°C. It looks like I am going to need a more powerful fan to keep it cooler than that. Too bad the 80mm TMD fans are not on the market yet...

Papst fans - are they not supposed to be quiet?

I can forgive you for that statement, Tea, since you are more affluent on bananas than case fans. Tannin, however, should be well aware that there are at least 9 different Papst 80 X 80 X 25mm 12volt fans to choose from. Some are quiet, some are not. I still think Papst makes the best quality DC...

    Passive cooling a GF3 Ti500

I don't have the power output numbers either but believe that the GF3 radiates too much heat for passive cooling. The Crystal Orb is better quality than the Blue orb, I have used both. It will remove more heat from the GPU at a given fan speed than the Blue orb. They are not expensive, either...

    Passive cooling a GF3 Ti500

I would think that the GF3 Ti500 makes too much heat to dissipate with passive cooling. This guess comes from owning and using third party cooling methods on both an original GF3 and a GF3 Ti200. I would suggest installing a ThermalTake Crystal orb on the card with Arctic Silver III compound...

I have the ThermalRight SLK-800 with 70mm YS Tech TMD-fan installed. The installation process wasn't bad although I don't like the fan retention clips at all. I'd rather use machine screws going into a threaded boss or nut than these flimsy things. The TMD has a weird characteristic of its...

How can I put an internal IDE ZIP drive to good use?

I have been using IDE zip drives for backup since they came out. A 100 meg model first, then upgraded to a 250 meg once they became available.
