Aha, you have your own cloud? Nice. :)

    Laptop time?

I wouldn't mind 48 GB of RAM, then you will not have to worry about buying more RAM for a few years. 256 GB would be great for hosting a VM with SQL Server. :)

    Need a Decent Phone

OS updates are maybe the weak point of motorola? I love their phones, have had a Moto Z and Moto One Hyper, but they received very sporadical updates. I bought the Z spring 2017 and the updates stopped in August 18. :(

    Access stand-alone

Glad to hear that it worked out. Access is not bad for its intended use, just a long time since I used it. As a side note, it's also quite easy to kill performance in SQL Server. :)

    Access stand-alone

I believe Access has a database size limit of 2GB? I now remember a story from 1995, where a guy working for our city council apparently decided to build a journaling system to store all incoming+official documents - in an Access database... The documents were of course scanned and stored as...

    Access stand-alone

I used Fox Pro + VB6 to create a CD based database application around 1999-2000. Very nice to work with if I remember correctly. But I have mostly been working with SQL Server. Personallly I could/would use Management Studio (SSMS) as a GUI for smal scale manual input. For corporate use I would...

    Access stand-alone

Seems like it is possible: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/p/access/cfq7ttc0hhmx?activetab=pivot:overviewtab I suppose the various tasks includes building forms in the UI? She has no interest in learning SQL Server? I ask because Express edition is totally free with a limitation...

    mATX Rebuild

I think it should work fine as long as you give it enough RAM? I have a T440s (anno ~ 2013?). It was unbearable slow with 8 GB but got much better with 12 GB. It doesn't say much, bit it is much faster than my work laptop (4 year old HP with 8 GB). And if I remember correctly I believe I...

    Windows 11

Regarding menus in 10, I just write things in the search bar and select the top item in the search result. It is probably just me, but I find it annoying that some things are in the new UI and some in the Classic. We'll see what 11 brings.

    Android phones: Tips, tricks?

Don't fortget the 8.8.8.8 DNS server. if you think about it,.most companies collect user data, when you buy food, coffee or whatever. We get all these great "free" services - which we pay for with information about us.

    Android phones: Tips, tricks?

Starting yesterday I got a popup in my Gmail (phone) if I wanted to disable popups (to avoid dual notifications). I have also disabled sound+visual notifications from almost every app in my phone since 2015, and also mail notifications from Outlook at the work computer. I usually check the...

    Android phones: Tips, tricks?

I can imagine that a droid turbo beat the Z hands down. :) The Edge 20/20 Pro looks interestimg (or G100 for that matter) if I were to get another phone right now, but I will most likely use my current until it dies. The S9+ still gets security updates and I am kind of used to the UI by now.

    Android phones: Tips, tricks?

I also had a Moto Z... I liked it, 1. Battery life was an improvement over my previous phone (Nexus 5x) 2. Moto gestures 3. Medium performance is fine for my needs. Surfing the forums and reading news, checking the mail. I never had any mods either. I had it until the battery died. The...
