    problem neighbour keeps stealing wifi

Synology DS409. Not sure what is on there that isn't mine. I don't know how to access system folders and the like. Just took a quick poke around my data folders and couldn't find anything... I really don't know what I am doing on this thing. It just has a basic GUI and I don't know how to...

    problem neighbour keeps stealing wifi

My DS409 can only be updated to DSM 4.2. Guess it's too old and can't handle the requirements of the new OS version.

    problem neighbour keeps stealing wifi

So I turned off my Wifi and the bandwidth usage dropped the next day, but was still 8 GB for the day (almost all of it upload). At first, I suspected my desktop computer, but there wasn't enough throughput to even hit 500 MB, and it was mostly download. I then remembered I should check my NAS...

    problem neighbour keeps stealing wifi

Turned off my wifi. Need to wait 24 hours to see if the next day is close to zero GB of uploads. My antivirus is usually up to date. Just downloaded malwarebytes and ran a scan, but there is nothing. PC is clean. Also inspected the tablets and phones browsers and YouTube histories for the past...

    problem neighbour keeps stealing wifi

Hi everyone, Been a long time (maybe 8-9 years?) Anyways, hoping you guys can help me out. Last year, I got notifications from my ISP that I have exceeded my monthly cap within days of starting the month. Turned off tablets and anything that could possibly be using content, and the next day I...

Cell phone without service as alarm clock

LOL... iBabies will do that too. Unfortunately, with iBabies, they can randomly wake you up in the middle of the night and/or 1-2 hours before your intended wake up time. I believe the model i have has an early firmware version that repeatedly wakes up in the middle of the night for weeks at a...

Cell phone without service as alarm clock

Thanks Handy. Good tips. Didn't know I could put the phone in silent mode and have the alarm still work. That solves the volume problem. I did use the trick of setting multiple alarms in the past when I had something important to wake up for and only had my iPhone as alarm.

Cell phone without service as alarm clock

No, it was formerly on the Rogers Canada network. I don't rely on the phone network to keep its clock updated, but since the battery lasts forever when the radio, WiFi, and BT are turned off, it's not an issue. I just charge it every couple weeks and only have to adjust the time a couple times a...

    An LED lighting project

The problem i have with both LEDs and CFLs is that they while they are highly efficient, the quality of light i find is lacking in 2 primary areas: 1. Both suffer from significant gaps in the emission spectra compared to a blackbody radiator incandescent. LEDs are generally more continuous than...

Cell phone without service as alarm clock

Great minds think alike, eh? I have been using my Blackberry Bold as an alarm clock after i received a corporate iPhone. Love it for many of the reasons you listed. I've tried to use my iPhone as an alarm clock too, especially when i am traveling and don't want to bring 2 phones with me, but i...

Great. Now i just gotta upgrade my computer to USB 3.0 ;( Any suggestions RE: PCIe I/O cards? I don't think i want to upgrade my mobo for another couple years.

Writing to the card is always slower than reading, although I find 15 MB/s a bit slower than normal. But the question i have is why are you writing stuff to your CF cards? Flash cards are generally meant to be used as one-way devices... as in, shoot images on the card, ingest them into your...

A good explanation on equivalence and a thorough discussion on the implications of different sensor sizes, apertures, focal lengths, etc. http://www.josephjamesphotography.com/equivalence/index.htm

Another thing i forgot to address is the prevailing perception that full-frame sensors are the answer to everyone's low-light / high ISO prayers. That's not always true due to a phenomenon called equivalence. It depends on the DoF that you need. Sometimes, you need at least a certain amount of...

If your budget is only ~$400, don't even think of getting an FX body like the D3 or D700. Even a used D700 is ~$2k, and most pro-grade lenses are >$1k. With the new Sony 16 MP sensors in the D5100 and D7000, the noise and dynamic range are quite good (especially if you underexpose and apply +ve...
