Looking at the list of available-at-retail AM4 CPUs is actually looking like a horror show right now; only the 5500, 5500X and 5600, 5600X and 5600XT are available for less than $200. Used prices are a lot better, obviously, but it's it seems that the predictable outcome of unaffordable DDR5 has hit AM4 CPUs as well. If you were thinking about upgrading a system you have now, it ain't getting any cheaper.

I don't think AM5 is seeing similar price hikes yet. I'm sure they'll be along shortly.
