Gnodal has been bought by Cray in 2012, according to what I read. Some of their switch models are regularly on sale on eBay, but the prices seem to be too good to be true. Their GS4008, which is a 40x10GE+8x40GE sells for only 3000$. It's an L2+ only switch, but still. They also have a 2U 72x40GE model, the GS0072, for 9000$. An equivalent Cisco Nexus will be more than 40K$.

Except for the part where the company is no longer there to provide support, what's the catch? Those prices are very low for the kind of bandwidth those switchs offer.

Servethehome.com uses one of their switch for their racking. They don't seem to complain.

Exemple : GS0072 / GS4008

Looks amazing. How long would it have to function for you to call it a good buy?
3 years

Networking hardware is upgraded or replaced much less often than servers and computers. A typical life cycle for a switch is at least ten years. Since those switches are less than one third the price of similar equipment from other manufacturers, if they last more than a third of their expected lifespan, I'll call it a good deal.
