Just got the Corsair Dominator 24GB kit, it comes in a box half as big as for a motherboard, and heavier.

Nope. Install Facebook. Like you would install Microsoft Office. I've had that request a couple times.

I must agree. I've recently switched from ATI cards to nVidia hardware for their folding performance, and haven't experienced the suckiness that sent me to ATI years ago.

I have about 8 of them here, what would you like me to check? I'm about to go visit my grandmother, but I'll be back in about 18 hours.

I think I am interested in starting with this. Considering I don't have anything, what would you recommend? My usual method is to identify the best and buy it, but at the moment we are saving for a kitchen, and anything over $300-500 would require the wife be informed. ;)

Never did air pistols. Did target shooting with regular pistols (Glock G34), but stopped when I moved and didn't have a good range handy. This strikes me as something that could keep the skills up at home (my living room could easily handle a 10m range).

WTB: print/scan kit for a Ricoh Aficio 1060

Not sure if this belongs in the FS&T forum, as I'd put money on no-one here having one sitting around, but I would love some help sourcing one. The only source Google has helped me find looks kinds sketchy and quite expensive. Got the copier for $600, so paying three times that much for the...

That is an excellent point. I've gotten calls of concern in the past from my bank, a quick check online shows that all the transactions were in fact me traveling.

    DOS

Ouch. That would depend on what the card is. The alternative would be to find a specialist supplier. I have one that provides me with systems for the RTOS in some of our plants. If you are willing to pay $1200 for a brand-new Intel 233Mhz system with 32MB of RAM, I can get you some. ;)

Connect LAN to Internet via cell phone?

I've done it, but it was years ago and my memory is poor. IIRC, I didn't use a router at all, just a laptop joined to the hotspot and wired to the network with both NICs bridged. Let the hotspot handle DNS and DHCP.

Mine doesn't, at least down to it's minimum focusing distance. When I was first testing it I was making a very bright ~30" image on the wall next to my desk. Looked as sharp and square as anything.

    question Larger TVs

So have I. That is the number I've seen just about everywhere. I'm just saying that it doesn't seem to matter all that much in my experience. Anything from 2.5x down to 1x seems to be just fine for me. Also, I noticed a friend of mine with vision problems does just fine with a 24" monitor at...

It was a standard option, and the only SSD on the build list. I'm hesitant to add /another/ machine to that sig...it's a little large as it is. The machine isn't running at the moment, I'm having a custom mount made for the car. I hope to have it drive a touchscreen on the dash and tie into...

    Media Player Appliances

For myself, I would never consider an appliance. I am fairly tech-savvy and don't expect to be compensated for my time in putting one together or supporting it. But if we are talking about putting one in the field (particularly one I couldn't charge to support), an appliance looks like the...

Get rid of server 2003 logged shutdown/restart

ATX supports "soft off" on the power button. Pressing it breifly will send a shutdown command to the OS. Holding it longer (7 seconds) causes a "hard off" that kills power and is bad for cache.

time is correct. This particular TV is only a 720P unit, and doesn't support anything. The user purchased it at a time when it was quite expensive, so is reluctant to replace it. Plasmas have burn-in issues. They just do. If you are cautious about it, you can avoid the issue. But if you fall asleep with the home shopping network or a DVD menu up, you are in trouble. I would never buy one.

Well, the engine turns off when the car door is opened (nothing to do with the garage door). But my car knows the frequencies for my garage doors and the gates at work; it can open them directly without a separate "clicker".
