    Low power file server platform?

Looks cool. Are you considering merging your different file servers into a single namespace? Would you worry about that interconnection reducing your redundancy?

    question Mobile Phones

Yup, the 5110 was a tank. I had users trying to break them so they could get upgrades without luck. If a phone you want has a slick back, take a look at the aftermarket. Many have textured battery covers available.

    Motherboards with mSATA connectors

For very small form factors or industrial installations where drives and cables aren't an option. Or, my favorite, the wall mounted computer. Combined with a PicoPSU would make simply screwing the motherboard to the underside of the desk feasible.

We have fairly capable anti-monopoly laws here, should one decide to enforce them. Of course, the best they've chosen to do was with Microsoft. Having even two players seems to be good enough for them.

It starts with an uneducated and unmotivated populace, and is combined with a political system highly conducive to bribery at all levels. Combine that with voters that punish those who speak hard truths, and you're there.

    Hybrid SSD/HDD storage solutions

Thanks Will. So there is Marvell HyperDuo - similar to Intel Smart Response (no RAID) We also can't forget the Seagate Momentus XT and Samsung Hybrid FlashOn - both laptop HDDs with SSD cache. Both too low capacity for my needs.

    Hybrid SSD/HDD storage solutions

We need a place to dump these, as there are more and more on the market. My interest stems from accelerating large file shares. Getting 100-500GB of SSD in front of 2-6TB of HDD would be something I could sell a lot of. OCZ just announced the RevoDrive Hybrid. An all-in-one solution that would...

While I'm sure that these companies have a presence all over the globe, none are headquartered in the EU? (Japan, S. Korea and two in California, IIRC). While they could theoretically play "hard ball", these mergers include every hard drive maker there is, so banning their products would be...

IIRC, peak efficiency for a PSU is at 50% load? So my 1200W PSUs sucking 580W of juice are ideal? Good to know at least two of these things are being used where they should be.

    Motherboards with mSATA connectors

That Intel drive is SLC, so you would think it to be fairly durable. It better be performing that kind of task. I wonder if mSATA is SATA 3.0 compatible? If larger drives are available? It makes perfect sense for SSDs to mount directly to the board.

    Speeding up Windows File Sharing

TeraCopy was significantly slower than the default windows copy in my scenario. 6x 3TB Hitachi "R"AID-0 on both ends, connected via Intel PCIe server NICs and a crossover cable. The arrays are capable of 630MB/s reads and 450MB/s writes; windows copy "pull" was able to do 98MB/s while Teracopy...

Yeah, no idea. I'm not a web guy at all. The company has a friend who is doing some repairs, updates, and restoring backups when it gets hit. But I don't think they are up to doing anything beyond that. It's hosted. I'm not even sure where yet. I just got the call when I posted here, I don't...

    Hacked Wordpress site

I've been given a role in cleaning up a hacked webpage that was running an old version of wordpress. Cleaned it up, updated to the newest version, but it is still getting vandalized about once a day. Other than changing all the passwords to accounts, what else should I be doing?

And now an even easier and cleaner way to get storage on a board. Designed for Intel's Smart Response Technology, it can also just be used as the main drive. This makes single-board high-powered workstations a reality. Sweet!

    Strange

Ideally, I wouldn't know any passwords. I do have the ability to change them, and would use that if I have to. Because this is required for backup, I set the passwords and inform the users. This has the advantage of being good passwords on a reasonable rotation that aren't duplicates.

    Mobile Rack

On many of my RAID cards they have LED connectors per channel, but I have no idea how to make it work with the onboard stuff. My only thought would be to write a custom bit of software that monitored for activity and sent it out the serial port header or something.
